Thnx for remember Status Qou!!! One of my favorite band in my youth time. Still are!!! My favorite is Status Qou Live 1977. I still listening that amazing live performance. I know is not studio album, but I can"t separate any of theirs album from 1973-1977 because i love all of them. That live, for me, is one of the best live performance in rock music ever recording. Everytime i listening that live i can find myself in the audience like i was there. You know what? I have not listened that album for about month or two. It is time for me to put headphones on my ear and enjoy, and enjoy, and enjoy again, again and again and again... Thnx. I love your explanations.

Quo were always at their best live, like so many hard rock/heavy rock/metal bands. For me Hello is my favourite studio album containing 3 of my top 10 favourite Quo songs, but the 70s Live album just slays.

Lonely Man, beautiful lyrics, AMAZING song ! One of my all-time favourites ! The period from Ma Kelly's to Blue For You is pure GOLD ! Later recommendations : Just Supposin'(1980) and the Reunion Tour (Wembley 2013) !

Grew up in the UK watching Quo on TOTP, one of the few rock bands to constantly have hits in the mid 70s. My turn to be contrarian, because although I like all their albums from the 70s my favourite is If you can’t stand the heat. Brilliant stuff,

After Blue For You, they went downhill, for me. They went all poppy, in my opinion. I'm not knocking you for liking their, more commercial stuff. Liking the Quo is enough. If we all liked the same, life would be boring, right.

Piledriver for me, then Quo, for me.

So glad you did this. I’ve been wanting to check them out but didn’t know a good ‘entry point’. I’ll start with this album! Cheers

Dog Of Two Head, Piledriver, Quo and Ma Kellys Greasy Spoon are all gems. Pity they turned into a parody of themselves in the early 80s.

Ma Kellys is a great album and as good as any of them.Saw Quo 4 times back in the 70's in Australia and were always great shows.Full of energy.

Whatever You Want - All killer, no filler and those first 2 psychedelic albums. While Rockin' All Over the World contains 3 of my favorite Quo songs in Rockers Rollin', Let's Ride and Hold You Back, some tracks for me are just ok, so so (Who Am I) or no no (Baby Boy). This extends to all the other albums, which all still have their moments of brilliance. I don't see the appeal of Piledriver, for example, apart from Oh Baby, A Year, Paper Plane and All the Reasons. I grew up with Quo (1974) on a bootleg cassette and agree with the pick. Saw them here in Dubai, sadly without Rick Parfitt. For me, the ultimate boogie rock band

For me Piledriver is a brilliant album but the Live Glasgow 1976 album is pure classic

It's my favourite Quo album too. In their Frantic Four incarnation they were a fabulous live band and were one of the first bands I saw play live. Live, and in their Frantic Four incarnation, they were as good as anyone.

Going to be the contrarian here, love a lot of their output but I absolutely love the Pictures of Matchstick Men album. I can't remember the exact title and I'm too lazy to go look at it. I also love 1982. No accounting for my taste I guess lol

Nice video. Funnily my favorite album that I really love is the debut by the band. I like it much more than the boogie rock and hardrock albums although I do like piledriver. This album is an overlooked gem imo and even though it has strong beatles influences I just feel it's equally whimsical and odd ball at times. Love this album

Love this! Would also be interested at some point for your take on post-punk bands such as Siouxie and the Banshees, the Chameleons or others (assuming you have an opinion on such bands) as I know you’ve expressed your love for post-punk. Just my two cents 😎

Quo would definitely be a non-contrarian selection as the band's best work. Personally, my fave is Blue For You ... so we're both guilty of "going along w/the masses"! Great band...
@LarryFleetwood86753 жыл бұрын
And the last few albums they did with Parfitt were quite hard rocking, still keeping it melodic but rolling along with a much heavier sound than during their '80s period.

At least you give King's X props here by wearing an Ogre Tones T-shirt. We all know King's X rules. Not that Ogre Tones is their best but it's damn good to great and it's about mid-pack of their catalog.

They did try and break the States in the 70''s. They went over four years running from 73 onwards supporting acts like Savoy Brown, Rory Gallagher, BOC, Montrose, Nazareth, ZZ Top and Aerosmith. There was even a one off gig with Rush and Kiss..By all accounts they went down well with the audiences but couldn't get the radio airplay to break. Can't blame them for concentrating on Europe after that where they could fill arenas..
