Ben - Are you sure the device you are looking to use is a CANopen protocol device and not one designed for generic CAN or maybe J1939? If it truly is CANopen compatible strictly speaking an EDS file is not mandatory - but makes things easier. If your PDF is descriptive enough, you'll be able to configure things manually, or maybe even just use SDO communications alone using SDO read function blocks and/or SDO write function blocks to keep things simple.

I assume the DBC file should come from the vendor of the CanOpen device.. but what if they only provide a pdf of the PDO/SDO entries? Are there sample CanOpen DBC files that one can examine/modify? I haven't had much luck finding any *CANOPEN* dbc files. Can CScape be used to monitor any CanOpen Device, provided you import its DBC file? I have a simple CanOpen device that transmits Pressure data that I'd like to use!
