I'm 25 now. So, I was in my teens when I watched this movie. Basically, that's how I got to know Joy Division. Was just changing the channels, and then I stopped at this movie and watched it till the end. Ian died the day my mother turned 14.

I remember being a kid and going to see this when it came out I was only 12 just a masterpiece of cinema and the cast Anton Corbijn this is one of the best depictions of a famous person ever just brilliant to this this day over ten years later.

So so saddening I cannot imagine losing your partner that way I lost my dad and one of my sisters to Cancer . I h as be always said if I get it I will tell wifey not to look for me but let the police find me I do not intend to go thru what they went thru Karen was just 48 and loved life where I have been depressed since I was at secondary school it should have been me I am now 60.

Debbie couldnt handle his affair and neither could Ian, he was very ill and on all types of medication.

I highly doubt that their relationship was fully platonic, it certainly didn’t look like it, and Ian would have stated this to Deborah when he was pleading with her not to divorce him.

I think Annik was lying about the extent of her relationship with Ian. Their letters were incredibly personal and romantic, I doubt it was platonic. Debbie has always maintained that it was a full-on affair. In any case, I always found Annik to be mean, especially in regards to Debbie. Annik never seemed to have accepted that she was the other woman, and Debbie’s feelings towards her were definitely justified.

Difficult to watch. But a great film. This scene awful but powerful as she discovers he's dead in the house. The two walk up the hilly street in another scene and we hear him tell her he doesnt love her any longer. And 'Love.......' starts.

@@raulguzman276 except exit music for a film was written as literal exit music for Baz Luhrmans Romeo and Juliet and Thom Yorke is on record as saying he doesn't like seeing it used elsewhere because it was very specifically written for that purpose.

It was indeed smoke from his cremation. Crematoriums didn't have the advanced filtration systems as they do now. Many of them still don't.
