Well if you played Control, Jesse says this: (POTENTIONAL SPOILER): This is my mass to clean. So she basically undirectly caused this when playing as a child in Ordinary as she did not burn the last disk with the hiss. And then the old men came and fricked up the situation the most by using it.

​@@tom_606HQI believe that Jesse did burn the projector slide with the Hiss on it. The only one she didn't burn was the one Polaris came from (it was called 'Hand', I think). However, the FBC later recovered the burnt slides, and the one with the Hiss on it was still usable (although they didn't know the Hiss was there ofc). They eventually used it in the Projector, with Darling and Trench making an expedition into the portal it subsequently opened, with Trench getting infected by the Hiss and bringing it back into the Oldest House.
