Hey, thanks for the video! I learned that the number of variables in the state vector should equal the number of energy storages in the system. Could you tell me which are the 3 storages here, since you use 3 state variables? I can only come up with rotational energy and inductance. Thanks!

Also, you write "(remember that the state-space model is defined for two control input signals)" Which two inputs are that? Because when I run your code with line 17 as it is, I get an error in line 20 stating that the number of coloums doesn't match the number of inputs.

The state-space variables are rotational angle, rotational velocity, and current. Read the paragraph after equation 11 for the explanation. State-space variables cannot be equal to energy and they cannot be inductance (that is a physical parameter in the system). When you have a moving mass, then in order to postulate its state-space model, you need the position and the first derivative of position. The energy of the system involves these variables, however, the energy itself is not the state of the system.

@@florian1835 I just copied and pasted the code in my MATLAB (to double check). The code works perfectly, I do not get any error. I am using MATLAB Version: 9.2.0.556344 (R2017a). Maybe something changes in the Control Systems Toolbox in the subsequent versions, however, that is highly unlikely. The two input variables are control and disturbance.
