That a single unit offers so much versatility and scope is breathtaking, and does away with so many hassles that would previously have required complex, headache-inducing workarounds. In its simplest form, it's genius. Add in the dozens and dozens of intricate details that just make achieving great sounds and performances that much easier, and you've created a masterwork. I discovered the utility of the pre gain while dialing in a synth like sound on a fuzz pedal that required a severe volune drop from guitar to get the cleanest articulation. Dropped the pre gain down to almost nothing, voila. Absolutely brilliant piece of gear, hands down the most gamechanger thing ive ever bought for any rig, ever. I have learned sooooo much from these little G3 short lessons, especially the parallel one! Running drives and fuzzes in parallel was a lightbulb moment for me after 30 years of playing. Keep the good fight going sir!!

That is a great feature! I have recently ordered a G3 and am waiting for it to be shipped. Is the input gain always first in chain? In other words: If I’m having a compressor pedal as my first pedal, will increasing the input gain mainly affect the amount of compression (and not the gain from my overdrive pedal)?

Thanks so much. Yes, the pre gain sits before the effects loops, you can re order the effects loops after the pre gain. 🤓🙏

Hi mate, if you want to go out of the Atom in to the G3 in stereo or parallel then yes, you’ll be able to do that with a TRS cable. 2xmono out of the Atom to TRS input on G3 👍

You need to show this to Andy Timmons. He’s got 2 of the new Super AT mod pedals on his board bevy he uses 1 for low gain and 1 for higher gain. He doesn’t need to have 2 pedals.! Cal him right now!

I've wondered about this for a long time, Dan. Will try it tonight. One question - if we are increasing the pre-gain (I think of it as a boost pedal) then I would assume our total volume is also going up unless there is something downstream in the chain that limits or lowers the level. Is there any functionality to explore with the post gain in this case? Can we increase pre-gain and lower post-gain simultaneously to stay at a continuous level?

Hi, absolutely! Think of POST GAIN as a master volume. If PRE GAIN is giving you a volume increase, you can simply dial it back with post 🤓👍

I only noticed a 2 or 3 db jump from having the pregain engaged but it really changed the feel and sound of the drive pedals. Next question - is it possible to set an inverse relationship with the expression pedal to where an increase in pre-gain is balanced with a reduction in post gain simultaneously?

It will if you engage the preamp. If you don’t engage the preamp then it’s true bypass and will work perfectly with fuzzes 🤓👍

Hello Daniel! I'm trying to use an expression pedal for pre and post gain, if I set heel 50 I don't hear the same volume as if I don't have post gain selected. I have read that unity corresponds to 95 in the heel, is that correct? I want to use it as a booster, so I need to raise some decibels from the unity sound. Thanks

Hi George, unity for the toe is 95, then you can boost from there. To use as a boost set the pre/post gain levels then set the expression 👍

You already changed the font for the layout of G3? My G3 isn't that old (like, at all) and I don't have that way cooler, way more legible font. Dan, why are you still tinkering with design? It's kinda frustrating to pay $2000 and see that you're still working things out to improve aesthetics and layout. That should be buttoned up long before product launch. Wouldn't you agree? Otherwise you're just kinda angering those of us who have supported you buy buying a G3 recently.
