I haven’t used half of those features. I do use the app on my phone a lot. While at kids games etc. I also use the program mode and makes lots of custom programs so I can cook briskets and pork butts over night or while I’m not at home. It’s great. The hold at 165 when done is super nice. That way I don’t have to be there or awake when it’s finished and it will hold it perfectly

Lawn mowing and dogs barking is standard issue with making youtube videos around here. lol. I really like that display. Tons of information on the screen all at once and no need to dive into the app to see the graphs. I don't think I've seen that before. What I do NOT like is that it's 102 degrees in Dallas during the evenings...but I don't blame Fireboard for that. Good walk though, man. Very detailed.

Hello Paul, I finely received my Lone Star pellet smoker. I want to thank you for all the hard work you put in to this video. I have ran my smoker once the day I received it, day before yesterday. I have notice the temp on the gauge to the fire board was way off. I have not yet put a few thermometers in the pit to see what is off. The way I understood your video you can adjust that, amazing. Tomorrow after church a few of us are going to have smash burgers wish me luck. Thanks again for the info.

When I got mine home, I had to go underneath to connect the strap and I noticed there are two fans, one of them at the bottom of the hopper. I started mine today and they’re both working. Maybe we can find out what the fan at the bottom of the hopper is for, I only assume to aerate the pellets before they get into the worm Great video, save me about eight hours of reading and messing around with the controls!
@msknapp0182 Жыл бұрын
The 2nd fan is just to keep the electronics compartment cool so the fireboard doesn't overheat. I have had to go into that compartment multiple times to clean out pellets that are falling into that compartment due to shoddy welding on the hopper unit, so unfortunately I'm very familiar with that compartment.

the flashing light on the top right is for your wifi. slow flashing tells you it is locked and talking to the cloud. if it is flashing fast it is searching for your router and trying to log on. setting up the log on is a pain trying to get log in info correct it hides the pass word as you type it in and my fat fingers don't always hit the right key and that character disappears before I can focus on it sometimes so I have to redo it several times. wish I had the view or hide the pass word.

Hey Friend, since you clearly have this FireBoard figured out quite well I have a question for you… Is there any way to just run the fan without firing the igniter? Just wanted to get air flow while I’m running my charcoal basket. I appreciate any info, your friend from Canada.

No, there's no way to run the fan by itself using the controller... but you really don't need to for just using the charcoal basket. The fire will create a draft.

Hello Paul, I’m impressed, you did a great job putting this video together. I’m going to save this for the future when I get my LSG. Why is there a battery on the fireboard? Do you have to keep it charged to run the smoker?
@txbluzmn Жыл бұрын
Thanks, friend! The fireboard is made as a standalone cook monitor. That's why it has a battery. When it is in the LSG, it runs on wall power and will not use the battery. You don't have to worry about it at all! Thanks for asking!
@codysanford19887 ай бұрын
Hello there, you seem pretty tech savvy to me. Just got my LSG in and the fireboard computer is off by at least 100 degrees. Smoked 3 racks of ribs for the family and cooked them 100 degrees too low for 5 hours. Finally figured out what was going on by looking at the tel-tru. I saw you can adjust it by 50 degrees via the controller, but I have a feeling I'm missing something. Any ideas by chance? Def has more heat near the fire too. I was expecting it to have even heating. What are your thoughts?
@txbluzmn7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply. My first advice would be to use the ambient probe with the Fireboard to check temps around the cook chamber. You can try running a cook using the ambient probe for the set point. You're pit probe could be bad. other than that - 100 deg is too much. Contact Chris and tell him what's the results from your tests I mentioned. LMK how it turns out!!

Now every cook after the teltru has read a consistent 25ish degrees lower than the FireBoard has, I don’t get why and I’m so confused on how to get that troubleshooted.
@txbluzmn Жыл бұрын
The Tel-Tru is probably next to a cold piece of meat while the pit temp probe is right over the fire. They're not always the exact same on mine until the lid has been shut for a while. You can also change to the external probe for pit temp if you want.

Hi Paul, I had to change out my Fireboard controller and watched your video to see how it's done. So, when my new controller arrived, I hopped out to my Lone Star and started unscrewing the "tiny tiny" screws...right side, no problem...left side a little more effort because there's not much room...I then exchanged the controller as you showed in your video...easy Breezy...put the tiny tiny little screw on the right side, no problem...then started trying to put the tiny tiny screw on the left...30 minutes later, I finally got that little sucker in...🥴🥴🥴Holy Guacamole...there needs to be a better and easier way to remove and replace that cover...only because of that left screw...I was to a point where I was going to cut a slot (just wide enough for the width of the treaded part of the screw to pass through it. That way you can leave the screws in place and slip the cover through the slots and tighten them up from there...chose not to for warranty reasons...but really, that was a pain in the butt. Thank you for the video!!!👍 👍 👍...your videos are very informative and I enjoy them very much.👍👍👍

in the pit itself there is a nut and bolt you unscrew to allow you to reach the left screw with a screwdriver. I dropped that screw several times and lose it eventually.LSG sent me several replacement screws and a tiny screwdriver that made it easier. still less than desirable method of adding that left side screw but I can see why it is how they did it. don't forget to replace that nut and bolt which only function is to keep smoke from leaking out while providing access to that one screw.

My firebox channel 7 , which controls auger ect is about 40 degrees hotter than pit temp. How can I correct this?
@txbluzmn9 ай бұрын
I would start by using the ambient temp probe and sticking it near the Tel-true to make sure that it is reading correctly. If it is, I would put it by the pit probe to make sure it's reading the same. 40° is too much of a difference - something is off.
@alex_talley8 ай бұрын
I’m also having a pretty large variance between tel tru and built in probe on my lone star. I tried to blame on large cooks at first but I did a few ribs and pork butts on recent cook and noticed the cook time was taking 50% longer than expected. Looked at my tel tru with pretty much empty pit and it was 40-50° off from FireBoard probe. I’m setting a probe in the pit this weekend to try to verify which is accurate. Disappointed as it seems like the pit typically held for people reviewing by almost match between tel tru and probe.
@-MOYST-8 ай бұрын
@@alex_talley I would up take 50 degrees off the probes calibration and now it’s spot on.
@txbluzmn8 ай бұрын
@@alex_talley I would really check all the probes for accuracy in some ice water to begin with. There can't be 50 degrees difference in 15 inches of space.

@@txbluzmn thanks both for comments. I placed ambient probe in back furthest away from fire pot (have the 42”). Set temp on smoker is 225°. Temp on ambient probe on the bottom rack in back is 178°. Tel tru is 175° (basically spot on with ambient probe in smoker) . Built in ambient probe is saying 226°. I can make the calibration adjustment it just seems based on what I read that’s a large adjustment.
