extremely helpful video. thanks so much. i was using kasa switches with home assistant but because of local polling they are so slow.

This has been working amazingly well. The biggest downside is that there is some complication to it. I wish Lutron made a more affordable smart outlet. Their “lamp dimmer” isn’t cheap nor is it grounded (it is very good though). They have an outdoor rated smart outlet but it is very expensive. I’m going to continue with this mismatched setup for now.

This is BRILLIANT, thank you for putting this together and making it look so easy! Now that it's been over a year, is everything with this setup still working well? Anything you'd change?

Still working well. The only issue I’ve had is after a power outage and I needed to start up Home Assistant. I use this regularly to turn on my shop lights.

@@Rickmakes I'm new to HA. Just confirming that if the local network goes down and/or your HA server goes down, this all stops working, right? That's the one thing that I like about Lutron / hub is that it works regardless of network status, etc.

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed to confirm! For your caseta bridge (smart hub) do you have the Pro or the regular one? (I've read that using Pico remotes with non-lutron devices in HA requires the Pro).

I have the regular one, model L-BDG2-WH. It connects to the network via ethernet too so it is one less device using wifi.

Thanks for the great idea. I recently added, shop lights to my workbench and retrofitted to LED t8 bulbs and the fixtures have no switches, recently got into Lutron and Home Assistant. So anxious to try this out. I like the flexibility. I’m thinking you can pick up these plugs in a 4 pack.

Yes. I have purchased a couple of 4 packs. It tends to be the cheapest way to get them. This has been working great. My biggest problem was retraining my brain to press the switch instead of pulling the chains. I wish I had done this sooner.

@@Rickmakes I say that a lot !

How did you get into this window of Google Assistant settings?

Thanks for the excellent information- full disclosure- the EP25 HW rev 2.6 is not yet compatible with HA. need HW Rev 2.5 or older. (I trialed an errored for a long time not understanding why I couldn't see it (January 2024)

Is Home Asstant available fo Android phones
@Rickmakes Жыл бұрын
There is an app to control Home Assistant but the Home Assistant software itself has to be installed on some sort of server, NAS, virtual machine, etc...
