Hey everyone, thought I would give you a quick tour of the first iteration of my LED drums that eventually lead me to create the LED E-Kit that you may have seen on my channel before.
Here I am using Roland Triggers plugged into an SPD-SX, the triggers send MIDI to an audio interface in a rack. The audio interface sends signal to the computer running a programming software called Touch Designer which processes the information and spits out a signal to an LED lighting controller through an Ethernet cable.
If you want me to go into more detail about any aspects of the setup, feel free to hit me up!
I have a background in production, and I have always wanted to bring the most immersive experience to the audience when playing shows. I messed around with projectors and other tools to creating a cool visual experience, but ultimately LED lights proved to be the most, compact, versatile and flexible method of controlling visuals to level up the live experience.

I cannot believe how few views this vid has. Any drummer would freak to have this! And the band would like it too

What you will need for a project like this: Drums, SPD-SX, audio interface that accepts midi input, LED controller, power supply, touch designer. I'll make some more videos breaking this down if y'all are interested. Have a good one. 😊

You should take a look at the Canada lights LC8. A set up like this would be feasible with that or in conjunction with that.

Hi. That is awesome! I just got a USB 2 DMX interface and some fixtures to test some like this. I am to lazy to open up the shells. I guess I have again to think what fixture I should keep. I have 4 RGB LED PARs, 2 Moving Heads and a LED bar, that can adress 9 segments. But these LED stripes... Nice. A week ago I saw a video about stripes and DMX but can you trigger those striped segmented?

Yes you can but you need special software to do it. In this case I am using Touch Designer to address which lights to turn on and the SPDSX is the brain for the midi signal to get to the computer. THe DMX interface I use is ENttec USB DMX, I hope this helps!

what vdrum module is that? Can you use that module directly to control the leds? Do you have an online post or blog on how you did this midi led on your edrum?

It's a td17kvx. I have to run it via midi into my computer. Some additional hardware is required. More videos coming soon.

@@stickwithit Is this possible without having it to connect to the pc? maybe arduino? What led controller are you using being fed from your pc?

@stickwithit Hi. I would suggest to use the notes from the edrums, and loopback them to a DMX software or a software that controlled the led driver. I just grabbed a USB2DMX interface and Freestyler DMX and trigger some LED PARs and a LED and Moving Heads. And I cannot decide what to keep... I am to lazy to open up all the meshpads.
