When I switched to Mac last year it was a big change, because I didn't know all the essential knowledge of using the keyboard you showed in this great video. I miss being able to control my Mac with the keyboard _BEFORE_ OSX! The classic Mac OS buffered keyboard actions so I could type in anticipation of dialogues and it would keep up with me. Now in OSX you can't even stop unwanted actions like accidentally opening multiple files or windows. _command period_ no longer works.

Hi Gary very insightful video. I'm battling to save the last 15gb of data on external hdd cos I need to restore to factory setting the whole boy. The computer is tremendously slow and I can't seem to do anything. I already went to the apple store and they helped me to transfer the majority of data but for some reasons I couldn't save a couple of very valuable files. I brought it back home, but beeing kinda broken he is very slow (I already know it's a problem of sata). Btw now I have it home and before going back to apple assistance I need to tranfer these last files. The problem is that my mac, since I tourned it on, couldn't move or recognize the mouse in any way. I noticed that the bluetooth is switched off, in a unatural way. I accessed to sys pref. with my keyboard and opened the bluetooth window, but I dont know how to interact trough the keyboard with the options of the bluetooth ref. window as the cursor is stuck in the little "typing" lane. I'm frustrated, any ideas? Imac late 2015 (fortunately I'm using a usb cabled keyboard that allows me to do basic things) but I really need to make the mouse working to tranfer the data. I already tried the basics like turning on and off, cable etc..

Hi Gary, I am a great KB shortcut user as well. But I have a query. Please. My husband has been trying to alter the speed of a slideshow in one of his Photo albums, The only was I found to do it was by using Automator and making a new app to select the Album then play the slideshow at a selected speed. Is there an easier way for him to do it please as he isn’t a computer expert. And I know he’ll freak out when I show him what I did!!!
@macmost3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean a Slideshow "Project" in the Photos app? There is a control on the right side of the screen for the speed of the slideshow. You set it to the total time. So if you have 20 photos and set it to 1:00, you get one photo per 3 seconds. Change it to 2:00 and it takes 6 seconds per photo, etc.

What happens to images in a Smart Album if you delete an image, or delete the whole SA?
@macmost3 жыл бұрын
Deleting the Smart Album does nothing to the original photos in your library. Since you can't remove a photo from a Smart Album (think about it, you didn't manually put the photos there, they are there because the match the search) then deleting them will indicate that you want to delete the photo from your library. You will get a warning that says exactly that, in fact.

Thanks to this author, can someone explain me how to open finder context menu from keyboard?
@macmost2 жыл бұрын
You can't. Because it is a context menu, it needs context (the location of a click). So what is your GOAL here. What are you trying to DO? Most things in the context menu are also in the Menu Bar where the context would be the selection (as opposed to the location of the pointer). And Menu Bar items have shortcuts. So if I knew what you were trying to do, I could probably suggest a keyboard shortcut for it.

@@macmost i can select file or files using arrow keys, the thing i only need is "open with" menu on my selection Isnthere any shorcut for this?
@macmost2 жыл бұрын
@@bobomurod Just set a keyboard shortcut for the name of the app. Look in File, Open With and see what the exact name of the item is, such as "Acorn.app" and then use System Preferences, Keyboard, Shortcuts and add a shortcut for the Finder for "Acorn.app". Or, if you just want to see the list, you can use Control+F2 (may need FN as well depending on your settings) and navigate to the File, Open With submenu.

How to show the right click menu using keyboard shortcut. ( look up , translate, search) I couldn't find it.
@macmost3 ай бұрын
There's no easy way. The problem is that the "right click menu" is actually the Context Menu. So it needs context. It acts on what is clicked on. Without a click, there is no context. That said, a keyboard shortcut would still be useful. I suppose. But you'd then need to use mouse/trackpad to indicate what you want.

@@fhood2011 For corrections, you can usually see the autocorrect term when you type and use the down arrow to get there if it doesn't happen automatically when you press space to go to the next word.
