TheDanielmeeks that’s what was cool about this whole thing. Few individuals took pictures with him during the tournament but for the most part he just blended in and everyone just went about their business. Imagine the level of dedication DC has for his students and this whole project, and he does it all for free. Every single paycheck is passed on to his assistants, and it's simply his love for the sport and his willingness to give back, which is his fuel and motivation. It's hard to dislike this man.

Being a wrestling coach in general requires dedication. Hats off to D.C. for giving back to the sport which made him who he is today. I like to give just as much credit to the coaches who have very little and still help out giving their time and energy without much to gain. My respect goes to those guys just as much as D.C, who can more than afford to do this because of the work he puts in

Kris 9mm that’s really awesome. We’ve covered Gilroy Wrestling for at least 13 years now and it’s always been a top notch, 5-star program that started with Armando Gonzalez(9yrs) and then Greg Varela(7yrs) and now DC and Winn. It will be interesting how they will do when all the seniors leave after this season. They definitely look like they have individuals that will go far like Chase Saldate(2020 MSU commit). But the development of wrestlers in the youth and junior high programs is very important to the future of the program’s success. And the way things look, we could be looking at multiple CIF State team titles in the future.

What is funny is DC was actually wrong here. You can see when the kid in white has the pinning combination he has his hangs locked around kid in blues head. If you don't have an arm in there it is considered a Potentially Dangerous and the opponent is awarded 1 point. That's why the score was 2-1 after they were reset. Kid in white got his 2 for reversal and the kid in blue got 1 for Potentially Dangerous. The PD rule is to prevent holds and pinning combinations that could choke someone out or possibly hurt them.

@AA Sharp Anyone can inflict damage. A 12 year old with a gun could inflict damage to DC, it doesn't make it cool or better. It's unnecessary to bring up when you talk about a MMA fighter. Also, DC would only be in threat of a lawsuit if he assaults someone. DC's lawyer could easily argue that he was "in fear" and that could sway a judge's view. As long as DC makes an attempt to back off from the situation and cooperates with his attorney, he won't lose any lawsuits regarding assault.

Bryce Summerlin The thing that I notice with these high school tournaments are the coaches really all know each other and when you see a coach reacting like this, it’s just passion. Nothing personal. That’s what’s great about wrestling. It’s a community and you can definitely express yourself. The refs knew they made an error. The coaches knew it could’ve gone both ways. “Judgement call” was what we were told by the tournament director. These are high level, nationally ranked wrestlers and programs going at it. It is cool to see DC out there working with kids who want to be champs.

@@aronalvord As much as I don't agree with it, the refs made the right call. They only counted backs and called a pin because they were mistaken, which happens a lot. Per the rules you're not allowed to do an illegal headlock in a pinning combination unless it's a guillotine (bjj twister). The kid clasped hands around the head without an arm and that makes it illegal, making the pin and back points void. After they realized the mistake they had to reverse the call.

Just like those knock out ref videos, the kind where the refs knock out the fighter for not being professional or not knowing when to stop, they don't give a fuck about the fighter or coaches or how big he is or strong, they'll do their job to the point of taking on a man 3 times their size and knocking them out, because they're doing their job and doing it damn fucking well. MrWiggly Let’s be honest. If D.C had juiced against Jones and won you wouldn’t discount the win because naturally, the idea that someone can actually beat Jones at all is appealing to you - we all want to root for an underdog and especially a competitor with as much integrity as Cormier. But he didn’t and will never beat Jones. If testing positive means none of a fighter’s wins count in your opinion, then almost every fighter who’s been in the UFC for more than 5 years has had 0 wins.

Jfaiola in this case it was. The right call was made after the protest according to the tournament director. This is also a high level tournament with nationally ranked wrestlers and teams. So as you can see the coaches are very passionate about their athletes. Rankings at stake, records at stake, seedlings can be affected, wrestling scholarships might be affected in a +/- way(but maybe not) Just the nature of the tournament was high level and you have a bunch of coaches who obviously demand perfection. It was intense and this was not the only match that was disputed during the tournament. There were a few and the refs handled it right in the end. Thank you for your input.

All that said I honestly wouldn[t be upset if they reversed the pin...things happen, but to restart 2-1 is LUDICROUS!! Green had AT LEAST 4 points...more likely 5...heading in the 3rd...And you can CLEARLY see the guy in blue hasn't cleared the arm at 11:17 and the ref called the takedown...seems like he just wanted the match to end...I'm not trying to say the top man wouldn't have scored the TD, on the contrary he PROBABLY would have but that key word iss PROBABLY....it's a shame to call it like this and not the boys wrestle it out....

okay after reviewing this over 50 times and reading and reviewing the Folkstyke handbook DC's wrestling did not maintain the arm and head together, which makes the move illegal and potentially dangerous. The referee should have stopped the match awarded 1 point to the Buchanan wrestler. Since that never happened the referee should have kept to his call and not reverse it. Thats why matches like this have to be reviewed by at least 2 or more referees at a time.
