Hello! I watched your previous video from three years ago and set my blog recently . But it was a bit tricky with all of the 2024 updates this year in trying to set up a site from the video that was a few years ago . I’m not a techie but aspiring to be at 61! Hi Kellie! I’m so glad the tutorial has been helpful for you! About adding a sidebar to your blog posts: Before you dive in, make sure to backup your site. That way, if anything doesn’t go as planned, you can easily revert to your original setup. Once you’re set, head into your post template by clicking Edit Site. Add a Columns block (look for button with a plus sign). Move the Page Content Group block into the first column. Then, copy the sidebar from your blog page and place it into the second column. You can tweak the column widths just like in your blog page layout.

About adding a call to action at the end of a blog post-if you want it to show up on all your posts, here's what you can do: Click "Edit SITE" to open your Post Template. You can copy a section you like from another page of your site, or even choose one from my site if it fits your style. Place it at the bottom of the template, and it will appear at the end of every post.

You’ll see a list of all your blocks-find the ones you don’t need, click the three dots next to each, and select Delete. That should clear them up! ✨

As for those pixelated featured images - that's usually because WordPress is using a smaller version of your image. Guys, great job! I've watched it twice & built my blog step by step like you did. I'm have a couple issues. I may delete it all & start over. B4 I do, I can't get multiple blogs on my main blog page. Under Query Loop, under Settings, the bar is missing the 'display settings' button so there is no place where I can show 'Items per page' or offset, to show how many blog post to show on my main page. In the latest WordPress version, the display settings for the Query Loop have moved to the right sidebar. Just select your Query Loop block, and you’ll see the “Display” section there. Click the three dots next to it, and you’ll find all the settings to adjust how many posts appear. For the contact page, it sounds like an email delivery issue. I recommend setting up an SMTP plugin to make sure your site can send emails reliably

Yes, the plugin will clean up the database. Here's how you can proceed: If you want to keep your existing content: Backup your site Create a staging site through your hosting provider. If you're unsure how to do this, their support team can help. Install the new blog on the staging site, transfer your content (text, images, etc.), and test everything out. Once you're satisfied, replace the old site with the new one. If you're starting fresh: Backup your site Use a plugin like WP Reset to wipe your site clean. Just be sure this is what you want because it deletes all existing pages and posts. Then follow the tutorial to install the new blog. And, always BACKUP your site before making changes! I've only used elementor before and when using it there is a handy little icon to click on that allows the user to see what the site looks like on mobile devices and makes it easy to make changes independently for each mobile device. Since I don't plan on using elementor and I plan on setting up my site following your instructions in this video, is a separate plugin needed to address the issue of the site being responsive on all mobile devices? (Forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology!) Thank you so much. You guys are fabulous.

The blog package in my tutorial is designed to be responsive, so your site should automatically adjust to different screen sizes, like mobile devices, using relative units (like rem or percent for font size and spacing). To preview how your site looks on mobile, you can use the device icon next to the “Save Draft” link in WordPress (here’s a visual: user-images.githubusercontent.com/70191331/279989968-a40fbfc5-36ef-4864-915a-7e1c83e7882f.png). Now, WordPress doesn’t offer built-in tools for editing mobile versions separately like Elementor does. If you want more control, you might want to try the Gutenberg Blocks Library & Toolkit - Editor Plus plugin. It gives you more flexibility for mobile-specific tweaks. Just keep in mind that this plugin hasn’t been updated recently, but it could still be helpful! And, as always, back up your site before installing any new plugins. 😊

Both the text color and background color says no color selektert so would have though transparent would be the default but it still shows white and not transparent. Gutenberg has made great strides forward recently :) You won't need Elementor for this design, and it's best not to mix them together. Unfortunately no, you need to choose either Gutenberg or Elementor on a per-page basis - you can't use both. But there are other plugins that extend Gutenberg with new blocks (like Otter Blocks, Spectra, and others) which you can use with any Gutenberg page. Those simply extend the capabilities of the normal Gutenberg editor. Gutenberg is much better these days than it used to be, we really like it. That said, we still plan to use Elementor as well in some of our future designs and tutorials. We know some people really like Elementor. The plan is to make these designs available in both Gutenberg and Elementor, but that is a lot of work and will take some time :) Very happy to hear you liked the video, thank you for the comment!

It's great that you've built your site using the 2022 tutorial. If you want to update to this new tutorial: Back up your current site - always important! Create a staging site and install the blog following this new tutorial. Your hosting support can help set staging site up. Copy your content from the old site to the staging site Test everything thoroughly on the staging site Once you're happy with how it looks and functions, you can replace your live site with the staging site This way, you can safely update without risking your existing content.

Hi Martin! Sounds like your Mac might be automatically unzipping files when you download them-happens all the time! To fix this, open Safari, go to Preferences, and under the General tab, uncheck the option that says "Open 'safe' files after downloading." That should keep the original zip file intact so you can upload it directly to your site.

The plugin is meant for fresh new websites, so it deletes all existing content. To do what you want, I'd install it on a fresh staging site first, then you can export your blog posts from your current blog and import them into your new staging site. When you're done, you can replace your existing site with the new one that has the imported blogs and finished design. Hope this helps / makes sense, good luck!

You're absolutely right - in this case, we don't need to set up the Blog page as the "Posts page" in the Reading settings. Here's why: We're using a custom page template for the Blog, which gives us more control over the layout. This approach lets us use the block editor to design the Blog page exactly how we want it. Your blog posts are actually being displayed on the Home V5 page. For example, you’ll see the title of the latest post from your blog. To edit that, head to your Dashboard, go to Posts, find the one you want, and edit its title. It might be helpful to start by adding your own blog posts and removing the default ones (around 49:22 in the video). Once you do that, things should start making more sense!

Blog Package won't install. I've deleted all content, uploaded the plugin, and tried to load blog package six times.
