When cops came they had pick up pieces. They asked what did you shoot them with. I told them I had FFL and own gun manufacturing plant. Then I told them I used dimes. They looked at me and said well I guess that takes care of that. It hit news crime was bad in two block area it went down to 0 real fast.

I live in downtown Portland and I think having a small business down here is not worth the risk/ issues. These small business owners are better off going elsewhere. Especially convenience stores because they have the worst clientele.

My wife had an industry convention rescheduled and moved to Texas, because the convention producers realized they could not guarantee the safety of the attendees in Seattle, which is a very similar situation to Portland. Ironically, it was a convention for Amazon 3rd party retailers, where Amazon promotes advanced services and management to them. Of course Amazon the corporation is never going to publicly admit any of that, but the organizer for my wife's group (higher volume guys) said it over the phone to her, and clarified quickly "but that is not the official position by the way".

A robber comes into the store. The clerk pushes a button and sirens go off in the store and outside the store alerting people in the area of a robbery so they become witnesses and may intercede. If affordable, a lighting system that shoots out high intensity light that incapacitates many people. This is a no brainer. Y don't stores do this especially Jewelry stores Witnesses outside the store would immediately realize a robbery and be able to identify the robbers.

Just think if a pilot program was started with 1,000 young girls that are currently living below the poverty line. Give them birth control. A free college education if they don't get pregnant and pull themselves out of poverty before having children. Stop the cycle of crime and poverty where it begins. At least they are getting more frugal with bullets. It's likely shooting have risen, apathy has reduced calls. Only solution is to build. When I was young most of east portland was addicted to drugs, they were just housed. Closing mental health hospital 20 years ago was catalyst. Build, allow building, end red tape. Mandate sufficient housing to cover high schoolers graduating. No amount of money can fix a mathematical shortage of housing.
