Recausticizing is the process of converting the chemicals in the spent cooking liquor back to their original form so that they can be re-used in the kraft pulping process. This course starts with an overview of the kraft pulping process and recausticizing system, and then describes how they fit together. It describes the major equipment and steps or processes found in the recaust system, including the liquid and solids flows into and out of the system. Lastly, it details the important chemical reactions that take place - slaking, causticizing, and calcining.
