Conversation on Kuchipudi Dance Form: Scholor Dr. Lalitha Sindhuri with Sai Gandhar & D Chakravarty

SAI VENKATA GANDHAR is a young Kuchipudi dancer from Hyderabad. He has been training at Nishrinkala Dance Academy under Guru Smt. Sandhya Raju for the past 12 years and a post graduate in Business administration. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Kuchipudi, in University of Hyderabad. He is one of the prime students of smt. Smt. Sandhya Raju. Looking at his dedication, She appointed him as an assistant teacher soon after his Rangapravesham in 2015. He has participated several times with the group ensemble of the Academy and has performed in many prestigious dance festivals (Sangeeth Natak academy- nritya prathibha festival, Pongal festival - sri Krishna Gana Sabha 2019 and 2020, Gandharva 2019, Natya anisham 2018 and others ) He also trained in gymnastics and Carnatic vocal.
D. CHAKRAVARTHY is a Kuchipudi artist from Chennai. At the age of 5 with the guidance of his father, he joined at Shri. Ambikeshwara Nruthya Niketan under Guru. Shri. S.P. Anand and there he got trained upto 12 years. He then competed his Bachelor's in Commerce in 2015. The passion and obsession he possessed on Kuchipudi, drove him to Kuchipudi Art Academy, chennai, under the guidance of Guru. Smt. Srimayi Vempati. He had participated and performed in so many prestigious festivals and programs like - Sri krishna Gana Sabha (2002). - Indian Dance Festival Mahabalipuram (2012 and 2019). -Government Music College Salem (2017).

Jalpaiguri (2019).
- Kuchipudi Art Academy's margazi utsav
(2016, 2017, 2018).
And a U.S. tour of 35 cities, where he participated in ballets like Ardhanareeswaram, Rukmini Kalyanam and Chandalika in 2019.
He had also his certificate course in sanskrit in 2018.
DR. LALITHA SINDHURI is a young talented Kuchipudi Dancer who hails from a traditional family of Kuchipudi artistes. Being the great granddaughter of Late Vempati Venkata Narayana garu, Lalitha has that inherent spark of art in her which was conditioned, disciplined and brought into shape by her gurus Sri Vedantam Satya Narasimha Sastry, Sri Pasumarty Srinivas and Sri Vedantam Venkatachalapaty. She is currently under the tutelage of Sri Jai Kishore Mosalikanti.
Having completed her Engineering in Computer Science, Lalitha took up her inherent ‘passion’ as ‘profession’ and completed her Master of Performing Arts in Kuchipudi Dance from University of Hyderabad. She has been recently awarded Doctorate in dance from Univeristy of Hyderabad for her research.
Lalitha received many prestigious awards like Balashree National Award from the President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Balaratna State Award from the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy , Outstanding Young Person Award from JCI International etc. Many titles adorned Sindhuri like Nritya Sarada, Nritya Vilasini, Natya Mayuri.
Being a graded artist of Doordarshan, Lalitha has been a recipient of many prestigious scholarships like NCERT scholarship for children under 15, Senior Scholarship from Ministry of Culture for advanced training in Kuchipudi Dance a distinguished candidate got qualified for National level Junior Research Fellowship by UGC. Lalitha visited Barnard college, New York City, USA as a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellow in 2017-18 and worked under Dr. Uttara Asha Coorlwala on “The impact of cross-cultural training in dance with special reference to Kuchipudi”.
Along with her academic pursuit in USA, Lalitha performed across USA in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, PennState University, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Nashville and Miami.
