Releasing 8000 prisoners...many of which have committed terrorism.... How would Israelis ever feel safe? Either from another attack...not to mention the additional army.... That just wasn't realistic.
@laker0008 ай бұрын
Unfortunately this conversation is an insult to viewers' intelligence, and i'm referring mainly to Adar. For example- "There is no reason to believe Israel's numbers on hamas terrorists killed"- wow, a very sound and based argument, based on....actually nothing. I also don't understand why the arab-israeli nice guy is not seen throughout the entire thing but that's just a side note. Also, The Kfar Qasem massacre was almost 70 years ago- is that your best example of lack of accountability in the IDF? By the way, officers sat in prison for as much as 10 years for that, and not only 3 like the guy is saying. I can give many more examples of inaccuracies heard in this conversation, but I doubt anyone cares. For me it's just very disappointing. (oh btw, smearing Yousef Haddad without him being able to respond is very lazy as well)

I take it back, the arab israeli guy (who sounds very nice tbh) is also full of rubbish. Towards the end of the conversation he speaks about how the IDF death tolls are not believable and brings the case of shireen abu akleh to support his argument. A few minutes later he claims that the fact that the "Gaza health ministry" lied in the famous hospital incident in the beginning of the war is actually what makes him believe them *more* now! That's insane logic! Another argument he makes is "why would they want to lie about the death toll? Everyone thinks Israel is insane as it is". Really? that's so intellectually lazy I don't even know where to begin. Of course they would still want to make the death toll seem higher. Btw, the UN just updated their death toll of Gaza to about a *half* regarding women and children

I'm surprised Israel has Palestinian people living there. I didn't think Jews liked Palestinians at all.

20% of Israel’s population is Palestinian

There is so much false propoganda out there. The only reason there is any systemic "racism" at all is because of the vicious cycle of violence that has been occuring for decades. Jews don't "hate" Palestinians. There are definitely some that are scared and mad but many recognize that not everyone is a suicide bomber and or will stab and throw rocks at them despite the amounts of time that this has happened over decades. I would say they are cautious but as everyone who is able to ideally could, can take it on a case by case basis.
@laker0008 ай бұрын
20% are arab-israeli. the term "palestinian" is confusing but if that's what some wish to call themselves then ok. Also, try to "like" a population which most are calling for your death (and also acting on it) every single day for 100 years. see if you can (not talking about the israeli-arabs to be clear)

A very interesting conversation, thanks! As a Westerner, I believe I should try to explain why the "ethno-state" (ethnic-state) is considered to be, let's call it, suboptimal. The "proper", Western model of a state is a state of/for its citizens. Period. Israel, as an ethnic state, is a state for Jews. Israeli citizens have no "Israeli" nationality in their passports. It can be Jewish or Muslim, but not ISRAELI. So Israel is not a national state serving all Israelis. It is an ethno-state serving Jews and in denial of the existence of a nation that the existence of the state of Israel created: the Israeli nation. The Western ideal state is a state for all its citizens. In the case of Israel, it would mean all ISRAELIS. A citizen is a citizen, and a state exists to serve all its citizens. I believe that all Western countries are set up in this way. If you have the citizenship, then this is your nationality. Your state is there for you, It is your nation state, you are a part of a nation, no mater ethnicity, religion, race, etc.

I think they meant Nation-State
@oxioxy9 ай бұрын
@@janaejoaodosacramento9731 13:45 - they talk about Israel being criticised because it is an ethno-state. And then they seem not to see the difference between this model and a "standard" national state.

No western model exists in the Arab world
@idomaniacs9 ай бұрын
Nope. Israel is a national State like Italy or Germany. Arabs vote, get elected, recieve healthcare, social support, education, full funding for their churches and mosques, retirement and everything that Jews receive, but unlike Jews, they only go to the army if the volunteer.

You're totally ignoring the fact that Israel was formed as a safe haven for people who just went through one of the worst genocides in history. So, no comparison to why the US was formed or sweden or portual for that matter. So yes, that is the general justification for it being an ethno-state. Also, as you probably know, more than 20% of Israeli citizens (with full rights) aren't Jewish. Lastly, I'm not sure that the mere idea of an ethno-state is that terrible or immoral in itself. There are many more ethno-states but Israel seems to be getting all, or most of the hate, because of the conflict.
