I knew Betye Saar when we both lived in Laurel Canyon. I visited her home and met her daughters who very young …this was in 1972. I also met Suzanne Jackson, another Black woman artists who owned Gallery 32… The synchoncity of life, years later, in 2005-07 , I am living in Wellesley, MA and just a few blocks from Wellesley Women’s College, where I used to do morning walks on campus. one morning after my work out, I see a notice, while getting coffee, that Alison Saar, artist, would be speaking at the college that evening. I am so thankful you guys uploaded this artist talk. I am writing a research paper on Betye Saar and this video has been extremely helpful. With contemporary artist it is harder to find good information and this video has a ton.
