General Budanov and the Ukrainians are very clever. One thing they have done and in which they have excelled is the use of Russian historical tactics called “Maskirovka”, targeting the Russians themselves. He's doing the intelligence and logistical version of painting themselves blue and waving their bare backsides at the enemy. Were the Russian military led competently, they would surrender or leave, and begin talks to exchange prisoners and begin the return of those they kidnapped and begin restitution payments. Pretty bad when a country's leadership is so corrupt that they can't don't even know how to lose, and slowly commit suicide because their leadership can't cope with not being bully master, and much of the leadership just want to hang on to their massive wealth, so they'll let hundreds of thousands die.

Awesome job by General Budenov... Progress in warfare cannot always be measured in linear terms, such as distances along the front lines. The degradation of an enemy's logistics such as supply chains, mechanical repair, armament capability, troop morale and political sustainability are also important metrics. The front lines are the store front, but what takes place in store and in the shop are foundational. Viewed in this context, Ukraine has drastically degraded Russian capability to such an extent that Putin is reduced to shaking down Cuba & North Korea for military support. He's scraping the bottom of the barrel. Ukraine is pushing Russia to the tipping point. The question "When will this occur?" is for another day.

If countries like Iran, North Korea, Argentina still bob along ( with support ) with sanctions applied what makes anyone think Pootin Russia is any different, they too have plenty of support and they have resources others want. Pootin has no qualms about sending his countrymen to the meat grinder, so this war for total independence from the yolk of the Kremlin must be successful. Although NATO's instructors are still training Ukrainian soldiers, I have no doubt that NATO's weapons, doctrine and tactics developers are getting massive amount of data and feedback from our Ukrainian friends, which are used to change, improve and develop new strategies and doctrines within our officer corp's military curriculum. I am sure that Ukrainians are teaching us about the new and improved ways of employing the very weapons we've given them to fight with.. For example I have no doubt that the specialists from the US Army and Raytheon were in Kyiv the day after the Patriot SAM system shot down the Kinzhal hypersonic missile. All these mountain of data is not being used only to teach NATO's future commanding officers but it's also used as an input for the research of the weapons that are being currently developed. It's a win-win situation. Ukraine is getting some of the most advanced weapon systems in the world they could only have dreamed off just a few years ago, while we get an invaluable feedback of the real world performance of these same weapons. Practice is one thing. War gaming is great. But when you see the performance of an untested weapon in an actual war, this brings you data money can't buy... Slava Ukraine.
