Can you love a dishwasher? If it’s the new Bosch SHPM78Z55N 800 series dishwasher you can certainly love a dishwasher. Too much? Check out these features:
-Triple racks. That third rack up top is awesome! Toggles on each side let you drop the side wings down a bit to accommodate ramekins, and all of our tongs, spatulas, sippy-cup lids, medicine cups, etc. fit up there perfectly.
-Easy-adjust middle rack raises or lowers into three different positions to make room in the middle rack or to give the bottom rack maximum space for large pots.
-All three racks have easily flipped bars that accommodate different sized plates, bowls, etc.
-Quiet! 42 decibels mean conversations are not hindered one iota with the dishwasher running, even standing on either side of the washer.
-Super-easy install with the back leveling feet adjusted from the front of the dishwasher. Simply level left-right with the front feet, then level front-back with the front screw that adjusts the back feet.
-Beautiful. Hidden controls and classic understated Bosch design complements any kitchen.
Watch the attached video to see the features in action and to see it running. This dishwasher is amazing, and if you have a bunch of kids, that third rack will be a game-changer. Instead of running the dishwasher twice a day, once is now our new normal because of the extra room provided with the third rack. The filter is easy to clean (see the video) and the stainless tub will last forever. The value found in this dishwasher is immense for us, since we run it every single day. It cleans really well. Bosch, as usual, you have knocked it out of the park with the new 800-series!

When your partner looks at you the way this guy looks at his Bosch. I dig it. We're buying a Bosch 800 soon! We've been without a dishwasher for awhile, but we're looking to finally update.

Today is the 1.5 year anniversary of my Bosch 800 Series dishwasher. 18 months after installation I am still amazed at how quiet this machine is. I installed this one in my condo shortly after closing. I even recommended purchasing a Bosch dishwasher to the people who bought our house.

YES! The people who bought our Scottsdale house didn't know about Bosch dishwashers, and the realtor told them whatever they do, keep that dishwasher--it was a much older mid-level Bosch that was still perfect after 15 years of washing dishes!

Luv my current Bosch dishwasher, had it for 13+ yrs and she's still going strong💪💪💪💪... now I'm going to replace it with a newer model 800, I'm going to hand my current model down to my nieghbor across the street. I always use the heavy duty with sanitizer feature... allllll of them come out very squeeky clean

Hi Lexi, No softener needed--we have really hard water here in AZ, too, and we don't have a traditional water softener. We have a whole-house filter, but it doesn't soften the water. Thanks for writing! I'd be grateful if you subscribed if you have not already. Thanks!

Had this Bosch installed today. . One big problem is that the previous Asko had. The control box at back of dishwasher into the area for the dishwasher. The Bosch needed more room, plus I hired an electrician to hook up the control box under the kitchen sink. It originally went behind the Asko dishwasher. Extra expense.
@DavePR
@DavePR Жыл бұрын
I don't know what a control box is for a dishwasher. It came to me out of the blue today that the control box may be what I would call the power outlet. Was the electrical outlet directly behind the dishwasher? I have only ever seen dishwashers plugged into the outlet under the kitchen sink, inside that cabinet, not behind the dishwasher.

Exact model I just had installed--my 5 year old Bosch stopped working. I was watching to see how to adjust the tines. Anyway, Bosch is the only brand where you can raise one side of the middle rack and not the other--in other words, you don't have to move both sides--which I like. I would prefer the MyWay 3rd rack--don't find the 3rd rack useful. This model also doesn't have the tine adjustability that my broken 5 year Bosch did---a great disappointment for a more expensive washer! I'm hoping this fulfills the promise of better drying---neither I nor my husband want to have dry dishes like we do without a dishwasher.

My drying has been great! Incidentally, we typically start it during story time for my kids (it's really, really quiet) and it's done before we go to bed, so I just open it up and it gets emptied in the morning most often. The only things that are not dry within 30 seconds of opening are the tops (bottoms?) of cups since they provide a little pool. We use the 3rd rack all the time for ramekins, lids utensils, sippy cup parts, etc. It's been a game-changer for us. We are looking to move across country and it went through my mind to take the dishwasher with me! We won't, probably, but this one is a definite winner for us.

Good vid! Question: do the big tines on lower rack fold down (where you have the big plates and cutting board), or just that one portion in the front?
@DavePR
@DavePR 2 жыл бұрын
Just the one portion lays absolutely flat, giving you about 1/4 of the bottom rack. We do wash huge pots ALL the time, but we never fold the tines down. I usually load that folding section up with mason jars and tall cups--I never fold down the tines.

Nice video. We are looking at this model, having had two previous Bosch. Could you please give me the measurement from underneath the counter to the floor? The specs. Call out 34-1/2” min. I have 34”😬
@DavePR
@DavePR 4 жыл бұрын
I have 34 3/8, and there's extra room to adjust the machine up. You may be okay--I know that's not super-comforting. I'm guessing your kitchen floor was tiled AFTER cabinets installed (most typical) so you lost a bit of height. I say give it a shot! And let me know if I steered you wrong. That said, I am under the minimum call out, too.

Hey Dave, This machine has an entirely new drying system (it uses zeolite crystals I think). How does it work on plastics; do plastic things still come out wet or has that finally been solved?
@DavePR
@DavePR 5 жыл бұрын
They come out mostly dry, especially middle or bottom rack. Top (third) rack usually wet because they're laying flat upside down, so a little puddle on top. I would guess they're twice as dry as a 2 year old Ascenta series (the dishwasher we replaced).
@DavePR
@DavePR 5 жыл бұрын
I've been paying attention since your comment to the plastic--it is always dry unless there is a trap for water, i.e. a plastic container that has a lip around it that will hold water. I think Bosch got it right with their new drying system!

@@DavePR how much time does the crystal dry feature add to the total run time. It looked like 2:09 is for standard dry.
@DavePR
@DavePR 3 жыл бұрын
@@chuckhogan7625 I use the 2:09 cycle all the time. Hitting AUTO and START gives a 2:39 cycle. That's probably the extra crystal dry time, but we simply don't need it since anything that doesn't catch water is dry, i.e. a cup upside down with a curved bottom will have a bit of water. Nothing surprising there, right? It's a fantastic washer. We're moving in the next year, and it crossed my mind to take the dishwasher with me...I'm sure I won't, but our next house will have the same Bosch 3-rack dishwasher.

What is the water hardness level at your place. My old bosch dishwasher had water softener where I could add salt into but this one does not. Can the dishwasher get damaged as my town has very hard water.
@DavePR
@DavePR 2 жыл бұрын
I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area, so very hard water. Do you have a water softener on the house? If so, I wouldn't think you'd need to double up with a softener-equipped dishwasher.

@@DavePR i have no water softener in the house. I hope it will be ok, as I have no other option. The one's with the bosch ones with softener don't sell in Canada except from Miele and they cost twice as much
@DavePR
@DavePR 2 жыл бұрын
@@pwyrbgb6314 why not just add a whole-house water softener? It will help EVERY fixture in the house, including the dishwasher, laundry, shower heads, faucets, your tub and shower will stay much nicer, and it's probably less expensive than finding the one or two dishwashers on the planet that have build-in water softeners.

Yep, it's a dishwasher like any other dishwasher--it gets installed (water line, drain line, power, two screws in the front up into your countertop) and that's it. When you're ready to leave, take the two small screws out and slide it back out and take it with you. It installs just like any other dishwasher.

How are the wheels on the racks on Bosch dishwashers? My not 5 year old Maytag wheels have completely come apart and are broken making it impossible to get them in and out. Not sure if my heavy plates were the issue or if they are just made cheaply. I am looking at replacing my dishwasher and noticed the Kitchen Aid in a similar price range has the same wheels as my Maytag. Both are owned by Whirlpool. How do Bosch dishwashers wheels and racks stand up over time?
@DavePR
@DavePR 5 жыл бұрын
The rack wheels and rollers are awesome! My Bosch Ascenta bottom rack wheels were sometimes troublesome (the Bosch 100-series), but this Bosch 800-series is much better. A buddy who fixes appliances said my 100-series bottom rack hickup was something he had never seen before with a Bosch on any model, so we figured it was user-error or a fluke. They never fell apart, just jumped off track occasionally. These wheels do not have that problem, and we couldn't be happier with this dishwasher, especially because of the 3rd rack.
