I always get caught up in an aversion to words like soul, higher self, reincarnation, but Ram Dass and Alan Watts have been helping me to to use the concepts to go past them, and it's wonderful.I just recently hung up that phone and that light of awareness has just been a little bit brighter, and I think I'm finally seeing what it means to cultivate that. Thank you Ram Dass and gassho

Thank you Ram Dass. Thank you Bhakti Fest for the wonderful questions. We watched this twice and found it so powerful. It is interesting to see Ram Dass use the slowness to make the point even better than when he was a much faster talker before he was "stroked". He shows us the way by example and extremely clear and simple truths. The ego. The personality. The Soul.

So hard 2 follow ... loved Ram Dass for so many yrs & every time I see him I feel heartbroken 2 find this articulate, twinkling soul grappling to find words. Happy 2 see him always & have watched him deal with this with grace over 15 years. Near beginning, he says "If you are radiating peace & love, you are doing all you can do". I found this 2 be nectar 4 me in this difficult earth drama. Love him for referencing Obama's plight. Give up roles (melodramas), cling onto our souls.

I don’t think he is grappling. The whole grapple activity has just gotten far far away from where he was at that moment. It’s really beyond our narrative of life as a story we tell to ourselves and thus want it to have a happy story. It’s following the story that you play your part and yet playing is only part of the affair. Something called bigger than life.

@@dapdizzy wow i cannot believe a reply seven years after I posted one!!! What a different world we inhabit now, externally I mean. I have to go back and watch this again, do not remember my reference nor the one to Obama. I shudder now to think what I was talking about and how that has metamorphosed.

@@ooohlaa13 I hope you are doing well. Don’t bother my reply, I just felt a need to deny that struggle that takes so much no matter what it is devoted to. For some reason, I relate to Ram Das very much and somewhat take it personally. I wasn’t aware of his being though I was into mysticism. I love him very much. For me every part of his journey was important and meaningful. There is lots and lots of grace in his stroke and the way he accepted it. Lots of grace.

@@dapdizzy yes I loved him since the 70's and had his books and tapes and videos. He was such a wordsmith and communicator with that wonderful NY Jewish wit I so appreciate. Lots of grace, yes.

Message from Baba Ramdas to all the disciples of Gurudev: Personality driven egos keep individuals at clash, they have to be played down and this is where the aura of Sadguru comes in and take care of the evils and provides individuals an environment of ‘Satsang’. Anger and jealousy prevails among us, but we need to contain them. Have a control in ourself and don’t ever try to change anyone but ourselves. Meditate and know ourself, learn how to control ourself and forgive ourself and others. See other people as souls not as points of egos. The best way to distinguish between the voice of the ego and the voice of the inner self is to understand ourself (soul and ego), be aware, gain wisdom, and remain spiritual and formless. जय गुरूदेव। तात स्वर्ग अपवर्ग सुख , धरही तुला एक अंग ! तुलही न ताहि सकल मिली , जो सुख लव सत्संग !! "A person can't be evil but his behaviour can be evil" (Baba Ramdas). That means don't judge a person with one instance of his/her behaviour. Look at the circumstances affecting that behaviour. Satsang has the power of changing people to move them from 'dominated by ego' towards 'dominated by soul'.

The strange thing is, I totally understand what he is saying even with his difficulty in communicating. I think you have to look beyond words and into intent to understand, and this goes for people who can articulate their words perfectly.

Is there any way that someone here would’ve interested in hearing my enlightening experience? I’ve been reaching out for 5 years and no one takes me seriously.. then I see people tuning into videos like this (which is great) but literally have not met anyone who actually wants to discuss, mention or even think about God or spirit in every day life. I’m always there. I’m one of the “light” beings who can actually speak the word. I have yet to have anyone give me the opportunity to show them how much of a great impact I will have on mankind. Anybody who wants to talk about the beginning of time, which I remember as an experience, please ask. God bless you all.

with all my love and respect to my teacher.. ram dass... he who finally threw me to gods arms... I have to say that is true what you have said here in psychedelics,, the telephone example at the beginning. but nature will contain more wisdom for us.. so in my opinion... less lsd and less meditation and more mushrooms... then is ok , to smoke or meditate o run... but eat your shrooms once a year... namaste
