Well, one good thing was that the ECT didn't actually cause Brain damage and neither were any dangerous meds being given. Having said that, it's just a script writer who imagined ECT...in reality, conversion therapy used to have mild shocks, but from a EMS machine or galvanic currents(same as used in physiotherapy). Or, maybe similar to an electric lighter/sparks.They are just used as a distractions from the pleasure, while showing certain clips. Kind of a negative feedback, & inhibition of pleasure or arousal while watching. Anyways...it never used ECT of Psychiatry. I know because I have seen it in use at a therapist clinic, decades ago.

I had a pleural effusion several years ago. They took 3 liters of fluid off my left lung. A portion of my pericardial sac was also full of fluid. The doctors had no idea where it came from or what caused it. And this is where I wish I had Dr. House on my case. However, I wasn't symptomatic. No shortness of breath, no fast heart rate, nothing. All except an earache and some pus on my eardrum which went away after a round of antibiotics. 3 weeks after the antibiotics, a doctor looked at my blood pressure and said it was pretty low and that I looked tired. He listened to my chest, but nothing there. He then told me to say 'eeeee' and sustain it as if I was singing a note. Did that twice, then he said to me "I think you need a chest x-ray". So I went from that appointment to another clinic, had a chest xray and the PA came in and said "You have the most remarkable pleural effusion I have ever seen." The first thing I said was "Can I see it?" He showed it to me. Everything was white on the left side of my chest except for an area about the size of a large orange. I looked at the PA and said "Why am I not showing symptoms are a lot sicker than I am?" He shrugged, then I said "I know what has to be done. It's going to be lung tapping time." Sure enough, that's what they had to do asap. That was on a Friday. They took two of the largest glass bottles I had ever seen and loaded them up, and then another half bottle. On Monday, I had to go in for another tapping and they took another liter off. I have scarring around the lower portion of my lung that causes me issues now and then, but that was pretty scary.

I would hope that one of the doctors in this show would find out where this patient got his so-called "conversion therapy" and report them for practicing medicine or psychology without a license. If they are licensed, then they should be reported to the appropriate licensing board. Regardless of licensure, they should be reported to the police for assault and/or battery, crimes that are still crimes regardless of whether someone consents to the assault and/or battery.

Knew a guy in college who at the time was going through transition m2f and was doing hormones and had a surgery date set up for lower reassignment. Well a few months after a situation at a bar happened he disappeared for almost a year. I randomly received a message from him expecting to see a her. Well his parents had basically had him kidnapped and sent to conversion camp where they did this kind of stuff to him. He came back and was completely brainwashed. I miss my friend, we were chased down defending then at that bar. I hope his parents are gone now and I hope he eventually found who he was again.

@phoenixmoon5580 Жыл бұрын
Only 25yrs? That seems like a bargain from my perspective with some of those 'anti'' families. They are in prison for 25yrs after they get to ruin their child's entire life and likely give them additional trauma and pain. (Hypothetically they'd be teen years (think 15ish) and retirement is around 65, so theoretically an additional 50years more of their lifespan at minimum). So they get to effect their child for at least twice as long as they are serving a sentence for. Also, prison tends to supply food, shelter, blankets, a place to go to the toilet, potential segregation, and tends to have a policy regarding minimising harm to other inmates. I think the parents would have it good. (Disclaimer: I feel that as long as you both (or more) are informed, and willingly consenting adults, you do you. I have also had the blessings of NOT experiencing conversion therapy, parents that were 'anti' me being me, or have been in prison/jail etc at this point in time).
@ArsenGaming Жыл бұрын
That's not enough. I'd say life in prison without parole or the death penalty if that's legal in the jurisdiction where this hypothetical parent resides.
@bryan9587 Жыл бұрын
I know right! Because mutilating your body, injecting yourself with hormones which will chemically castrate you, pretending to be someone you aren't, and encouraging children to do the same is not child abuse at all!

I was put in conversion therapy at 12, i didnt have camp therapy or anything, but actual basic therapy. It didnt change the fact i liked women and still to this day like women, luckily im Bi and found a beautiful man, and was actually fortunate enough to get closure from it with my parents, now i constantly joke theyre lucky i found him otherwise id be dragging women home. Therapy left me with extreme identity issues in my childhood, alot of self loathing, and actually thought i wanted to be a boy by 16, i grew out of it, but its genuinely why i have the controversial opinion that teens wanting transition should get extensive therapy and really stew on the idea for years before making any actual medical decisions. If i had i would've regreted my entire life.
