=MONTH(X1) Gah (if you don't like 0, add 1) Don't do text cutting for this, especially fixed text splitting

hi there! i would like to extract the month information from a date field, eg 30/12/2010, output to be Dec. i usually use text formula or choose month formula. but when i tried these formulas in an excel table, i get #value! :( help!
