...Miss Jay, The Cartesian Equation (x-7)^2/4 + (y-3)^2/25 =1 in this problem is one of the well known four types of conic sections, namely an Ellipse. This is the surprising element for me of parametric equations, namely I don't know in advance what kind of relationship/function will roll out! Thank you, Jan-W

In general thellipse with equation (x^2)/(a^2) + (y^2)/(b^2) = 1 where a > b > 0 has the parametrisation x = acost, y= bsint
