Sister Yee's talk made me cry, I'll admit. President Nelson's eyes were *Twinkling*! I SAW it.
@carrie86432 ай бұрын
The messages given by President Nelson, Elder Bednar and Elder Stevenson really resonated with me because I have been looking forward to the Second Coming of our Saviour for a while-we're living in exciting and historic times! I do also get something uplifting out of each speaker's message at each General Conference. The children singing "Gethsemane" was also so powerful and they looked and sounded like little angels. I, too, am a convert, and it took me a while to understand the church structure/organization, lingo and "culture" but I knew 100% that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church in our day and I knew that I belonged. People in my ward were very welcoming and loving and they became my extended family. My conversion was met with a lot of adversity from "anti" family members but I knew that I had made the right decision and it didn't deter me from rooting myself in the Saviour's gospel. My knowledge grew line up on line, here a little, there a little and a wonderful part is that I am still learning about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father and building a relationship with them. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us!

Most members have adopted a pragmatic attitude towards the second coming, based on something President Oaks said a while back 'whether you die or He comes to earth, it is the same." Also based on past examples of even leaders and members more broadly thinking it was nearer than it was (Paul of Tarsus, then members in Joseph's time). So the outpouring of the Holy Ghost being strong is standard. The focus and explicit, direct focus on the Second Coming by many speakers, including the prophet, was new! Even some subliminal things like President Oaks reiterating the commandment to dissipate contention (and the connection to 3 Netphi 11). P.S Counterprotesting Bagpipe guy was there Sunday morning before the meeting. He wasn't there after the meeting. Also ran into a 'comedy/distraction' counterprotestor walking to the Sunday afternoon session that had a 'Wear Your Retainer' sign. 😅

@@bobicusrexI'm sorry you've had such a wrestle, my friend! I agree that the protesters do matter and that where they're at in life matters and why they're there matters, and how the way that they're acting relates to things we can seek the compassion of Christ to feel. It's good to wrestle with these things. I believe that it's better to wrestle with these things one-on-one with God then it is to rehearse them with other people. I'm so amazed by Jesus Christ and by the way he responded to the people who couldn't see him for who He was. Keep pressing forward my friend. I'm glad that you still believe. One thing I love that President Nelson is said is that one way that you can recognize the true disciple of Jesus Christ is by how compassionately he or she treats another person. I also love that he has said that whatsoever is lovely praiseworthy or of good report to be said about another person, whether to his face or behind her back, that should be the standard of communication. I know that it's hard to feel the pure grace and pure peace of Christ when members of His church approach the weaknesses of others in unbecoming and insensitive ways. For me personally, I believe that being able to think Celestial in these circumstances is what propels us to remember who Christ is, what he endured, how he was treated, how he responded, and how he continues to respond and love and mercy in my life. You got this my friend. You are seen and heard and valued. God appreciates and made you just the way that you are for the most wonderful purposes. I hope that we get to see each other more and more clearly as we press forward with faith in Jesus Christ. Sorry for the long winded spiel, but your comment touched me. I mourn with you. And I believe with you. Right here right now bud. P.S. My adopted Christian parents always tell me, "We love you, and God loves you more!" - same goes to you

Hi Brother David, I have been a member of the church since 1991, I have learned to play the piano, one year after. My ever calling with the church, was to deal with music. I had an ever ending inspiration about a certain sacred song, that took 21 years of my life to complete it. When I was convinced that it was done, that was last year. I went to the temple to report to God, that the work is done. Then I asked him to search for me and find, then to do with me whatever he would like. While I had an assignment to help the YSA Choir to present come, come ye saints for the music festival for the central Africa Area, the music department loved the work, I was then as soon as possible contacted to be part of the global participants to sing with the Tabernacle choir. Let me assure you that as an African member from Congo DR, I know only one thing. Only God, was able to make it possible, I was found, and was set apart as a member of the Tabernacle choir at the temple square, because this is the Church of the Living Christ that our living prophets and apostles bear record. I felt as if I was in a heavenly dream or manifestation. I was this time, the only one for Africa. You are on the right path.

I follow your journey since about a year. I'm impressed with your genuine search of the Truth. Heavenly Father always will answer an honest quest from outside or once inside Jesus Christ's Church on Earth, he's gathering all his sons and daughters, his jewels against the season, the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (Jacob chap. 5). As Jesus warned his disciples, Satan and his followers are very active, they want to sift us from the covenant path. This is a joyful path. Continue holding to the Iron rod, hang to the prophets, seers and revelators, till the Savior comes, be filled with the manna and feel always the renewal of the joy as you partake of the fruit of the tree of Life (Lehi's dream). Thanks for being a light for many. Wait with eagerness to be endowed from on High in the Holy Temple. You're no more a stranger, you're one of the House of God!

I quit watching pastor Jeff until he did a podcast with Jared Halverson. I also have felt that his idea was to convert LDS people to his evangelical thinking . When his wife Joy says that we don't need the temple etc to come to Jesus , I get the feeling that yes, you are partly right, but the Lord does need a good crew membership to steer the boat of good people and take them further. Pres Nelson's messages from the Lord resonates in our hearts to Be the people who are READY AND WILLING to have Jesus return to. There has to be a structured church, a real purpose, a Zion people on earth to help The King in his purpose to bring to pass immortality and eternal life of man. Perhaps pastor Jeff will be one of the first where his whole congregation will be baptized in the Lord's church. He and his wife are surrounded by good LDS friends. That's my prayer from an old past evangelical who tried to find Jesus there. With open heart and mind I found the LDS church over 50 years ago. Now I am pleased to announce that we have 4 grandchildren serving in various parts of the world and one more leaving next year.I have enjoyed David's journey and always prayed for him that the Lord would guide him to His church. That was decades ago and I’ve have had nothing but a glorious life centered in Christ. I cannot imagine not having the spirit of God with me in the manner that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has shown me. So he had read your book and then found your youtube channel for your second round of churches. He was so excited when you went to an LDS church. Every Sunday we go visit each of our families for a few hours. From that time on, he would put your episodes on while we were there and tell us, I know he is going to join the church someday. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly on March 25th, so he didn't get to see that happen, but I'm sure he was watching from on high, still cheering you on. I did think of you when they announced the Wisconsin temple, and know the joy when you get a temple announcement in your area. Now you will get that full circle experience of being a tour guide at a temple open house, or maybe helping with the booties, Lol. This past weekend, my husband and I went for a belated anniversary getaway. Because I had watched this and your experience of sitting in front of temples, we decided to do the same. Br Boice, I do not think that you realize what an incredible and powerful missionary you have been and can be in bringing the restored gospel into the lives of people who are searching for it. Your kindness, love, compassion, and respect speak to the heart. Your love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ shine through in your moments of joy....and disappointments. Please do not let the disappointments or the feeling of somehow not being enough bring you down. This is Jesus Christ's church and HE says that you are enough (way more than enough) and HE says that you belong and guess what? He has the final say, nobody else! The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true and heals wounds. This I know because I'm experiencing it for myself right now. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone who doesn't feel like they are enough. It is for the broken and downtrodden of which I can fully relate. It is also a gospel of joy just like Elder Kearon speaks of! This I also know as I navigate through grief. I've found out that even in the deepest of grief, I can still experience joy because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I believe in Him and in what He promises us through the glorious restored gospel! May you be blessed and the righteous desires of your heart be answered. Much love in Christ to you dear brother, you are one of the valiant ones!

I have a friend who is a recent convert and is going through some similar challenges, and he has family that is VERY opposed to the LDS church and that has only amplified that feeling of uncertainty as a new member. I recently helped him see that he has changed way more than he thought, and that he would never really be able to go back to his old understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because he would have to sacrifice so much to do so. Would he really want to give up temples, modern prophets and revelation, his increased understanding of the Savior’s Atonement, etc.? I think it’s normal for us to start to take these things for granted after a while, and don’t really consider what it would be like to go back to an existence where we no longer have those incredible blessings. Please keep pushing forward through these early stages, and the day will come when some of your new light will reflect back for you to see. We can already see it!

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I joined the church in 1978 at the age of 25, I have learned that as a convert, the best way to move forward is one step at a time (I know so profound right?) but as you do, you will learn, you will grow, you will be tested, you will be proven but as you keep walking forward towards the light your testimony and your relationship with the Lord will strengthen and deepen. I am so happy for you, for your choice and to see that you are still moving forward. Your desire to get on the covenant path shows that you have a humble and willing heart to follow Christ and yes, you will be an instrument and already are an instrument for others to find the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. God Bless you, stay true, hold true and endure to the end, and continue to read the Book of Mormon it will be your anchor, all of this will be worth it!! ❤ PS:I LOVED the children's choir and Sister Freeman's talk and Elder Kearon's talk and of course Pres. Nelson's talk at the end, we are getting so much closer to the day we have been waiting for all of our life!

I love following you. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life and I need these views through fresh eyes. (I live in Orem and I love seeing your connection to the Temple here.) I forget too easily how blessed I am and how special my life has been. I loved that children's choir as well! Don't ever feel to small or too unworthy for the blessings the Lord is giving you. He's placed you in a visible position for a purpose, I'm sure. I keep thinking of Ether 12:27 - you're moving closer to the Savior each day and you'll see your weaknesses more easily. Those weaknesses will keep you humble as the Lord amplifies your light to a wider audience. Thank you for being such a blessing to the world!

The protesters were far fewer and quieter than in previous years. Maybe SLC is less of a tourist draw with the temple being under reconstruction. I love Jeff and Joy. What a special bonus it was for you to bump into them.❤
@goodoleboy25252 ай бұрын
It’s probably because they are slowly realizing that protesting indirectly strengthens church members belief in the church rather than increasing their doubt in the church. Protesters against the church and members is a good example of controlled opposition. Just like Jewish people are convinced they are in the right religion because no other religious group has been more persecuted.

that is the perfect perspective! give yourself time (and grace)...it's what God does, and yeah, we need to be there for Christ. everything else is backdrop or scenery...it's not a one size fits all, and i hope that more and more disciples of Christ realize this and don't feel like they have to adopt any other 'culture' than one of being a true disciple of Christ.

The beauty of the restored Gospel is that you bring what you have and add to it. And we all are learning and growing in our knowledge, new convert or life-long member. While you may find doctrine that is different from what you've known before, don't let it scare you. Take everything to the Lord, and He will direct your path. Covenants work. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are intimately involved with each of us as we make our way back to Them. And I will agree with everyone else here, the Children's Choir was amazing, especially on Gethsemane. 😊

Because the church is the 'Restored Church of Jesus Christ' (of latter day saints) mircles happen all the time. I've been a member for almost 60 years, come January and have seen many. Having a temple closer to you will be one of those miracles for you and others in your area. Be faithful and you'll see many more. Jesus Christ is definitely in charge and is guiding us back to our heavenly home.

The thing that I’ve always felt a kinship with you, especially watching before you joined until now, is your spiritual gift of discernment. You instinctually perceive the fruits of the Spirit. I very much appreciate the way that you are able to convey that in your message. As others have stated as well, you fit in perfectly. I for one appreciate you bringing much of the light that the evangelical world has into the fold.

My family includes many Lutherans and Catholics. It’s interesting that when my Norwegian grandparents, on my mother’s side, were converted to the LDS Church, they moved to Provo bringing the Catholics and Lutherans with them. It’s been wonderful to have three religions in the family all United in love with no conflicts. We love you and pray for your success in all areas of your life.
