This is the first video of a job in which the conversion to lithium of a Nickel Cadmium battery of a Black & Decker CP12 drill machine.
First, it is necessary to know the working voltage (V) and the capacity of the Ni / Cd battery (A / h). The new battery must respect the initial working voltage (12V) but we will increase the capacity and with it, the energy it can store. The association I have in mind is 6 lithium batteries model 18650, well known and used. I thought of using the 3.7V and 3.6 A / h efest, and did the previous calculations with that battery, to get 7.2 A / h and 80W / h of power, but I was wrong in ordering and in the end , I had to use the Samsung 3.7 V and 2.5 A / h, so in the end, the association will be 5 A / h and 60 W / h of power, much higher than 20.4 W / h of power from the original Ni / Cd battery. In this video we will see how the previous calculations are carried out, the disassembly of the old battery, the modification of the battery box to house the new one, and we will know in depth the BMS control module and how it is connected. I hope you like it.
