Useful video. Can it save two mobile profiles(ex: Mine + partner) so that it will automatically reconnect for Subsequent Connections?
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
Guess what, it does! Both my wife and me have our devices connected to the dongle. Whoever is in the car, the device connect to her/his phone. If both of us are there, it's a roulette. Also, once the connected device moves out of range, it automatically connects to the other one (if that one is in range). Pretty seamless for me.

Does it work with Apple Carplay ?

It does not, to the best of my knowledge.

I am facing issues with frequent disconnections and while streaming spotify songs i see breaks in between, maps is fine. when i play music then only it struggles. i have RPi Zero 2 W
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I haven't noticed anything such with mine. I stream music on Amazon Music, play podcasts on Podurama. I'm using a Zero W, which is a lesser powered variant than the 2W. My suggestion would be to check the cable you are using. I was lucky to find a micro usb from a xiaomi power bank from ages back, when their products were of good quality. Let me know how that goes.

@@SouvikSays just got a micro usb cable from duracell, will check again and will give an update. My Moto Razr 40 Ultra heats like anything while working with these. frequent disconnect and reconnect is what something it should address now.

Very strange. We are using similar devices with completely opposite experiences. I use a Moto Edge 40 Neo.

Hey Suraj, any luck with the new cable? How is the phone heating situation now?

As I experience you need supply more power over secondary micro usb port and the trouble will disappear.

Hi, i had just one question In order to connect with pi we need to connect with the pi's wifi network so, how are we getting the internet? Can i turn off the wifi once the AA has started? Or how does the internet connectivity work on this?
@SouvikSays2 ай бұрын
Once connected to the Pi WiFi, the mobile data continues to work. So if you have a stable connection with sufficient data, everything will work just fine.

Can we use apple carplay with this? Plz reply.

As far as I know, you can't. But I can't test and confirm since I don't have access to an iPhone at this moment.

I have got wired Android Auto and CarPlay on my car so will give it a thought. Wired connection is pretty smooth and allows the front seat passenger to operate the mobile. The only problem I face with wire is that it disconnects at times if the wire length is long. I always have to fold the cable and keep it under 30cm length to avoid disconnection. Since we have both Android and Apple phones, I also need to use two different cables or adaptors. Can the device you have used house the necessary software for apple carplay as well?
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
I do not have access to an iPhone to test this. But it does not to the best of my understanding. Apple is a relatively closed ecosystem and does not encourage open source developments.

Hey Raj, found a cheap alternative that runs both Android Auto and Apple Carplay. atobility.com/collections/carplay-ai-box/products/wireless-carplay-android-auto-usb-adapter-atobility-ma1 Check this out.

For heat problem keep it pasted near AC vent.
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
That was the plan. Somehow the plastic in my car does not love 3M or any adhesive. It just doesn't stick. On a side note, the heat is not perceivable inside the case. I was testing it for a few days while working on the project. That's when the bare SBC felt hot to touch. Let's see if there is any impact on longevity.
@SpartanKamal3 ай бұрын
@@SouvikSays otherwise you can try magnetic stip on back on the case and attach it to magnetic holder on AC vent
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. Will try and keep you posted. Thanks buddy!
@nevillechesan99463 ай бұрын
Don't think you should be putting magnets near a PCB board.. I've routed the cable internally and stuck the PI mine near the passenger foot ac vents using double sided tape and velcro for easy removing if required
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
Issue is that the plastic in my car seems to be from a different planet. Doesn't stick on 3M double sided tapes. I don't want to superglue it for understandable reasons. Your point around using a magnet is valid too. But is it that big an issue? If phones work with magnetic holders, will it be a problem for the Pi?

Will it work on other Android hud's
@SouvikSays3 ай бұрын
If the HUD already supports wired android auto, then yes. This dongle cannot create android auto functionality on a headunit if it is not natively supported.

Can you please guide me how to use it on Raspberry PI 5.
@SouvikSays2 ай бұрын
I don't think that there is an image available for the Pi5. It also does not make economical sense to use a Pi5 for this project. You would get cheaper alternatives off the shelf on Amazon for the total cost of building this solution using the Pi5.

Even if the car turn off the device keeps on , that can cause heating issue and damage the board . Any solution on this
@SouvikSaysАй бұрын
This is specific to some brands (Tata, VW, Skoda, etc). It typically turns off 10 minutes after ignition is switched off. If that is a problem, only way is to unplug the dongle after turning off ignition.

Hi Souvik I tried with Raspberry Pi 3 Module B using module raspberrypi3a-sdcard.img.xz. I am able to see AA Wireless dongle in Bluetooth but there is no AA Wirless option in Wifi. Could you assist what could be the problem
@SouvikSays2 ай бұрын
To the best of my understanding, the image file is meant for Pi 3 module A. Are you not able to connect to connect to Android Auto wireless even after your phone connects to AA Wireless over Bluetooth?
