I have that same planner and love it. Also you could have just cut slits in the cover and pages. I saw another KZbinr do this with the Coil Student Planner from Walmart. If I remember she cut every other coil hole and it fit the tradition 9 disc. It came out nice

Yes, I did that as part of experimenting with it. But I think I cut all of them and then it wasn't super stable. It would make more sense to uncoil it then cut every other one! I couldn't add additional pages from other planners (like filler paper) that way so I left it out of the video.

Ooooh, thank you! I'll definitely tape the holes up - either with plain color, or themed washi for the pages! I missed the Beetlejuice drop, and I kept saying I'd convert to Happy Planner if they ever do Beetlejuice... So now I have to make my own XD Though I wish you showed us the taped edge version just to be sure it works before I buy all the supplies. I will definitely be taping the reusable parts.

@selenawolf2466 hi! I've taped the edge before punching for some of my other non-HP pages so I do know that it works. Using washi tape makes it so fun and colorful, but it is time consuming to do an entire planner that way and it bulks up the pages right at the discs. FYI! Good luck with converting your DIY Beetlejuice planner 😀

@@starrchick28 it's really super easy. If you have some of the coilbound planners from other brands, this trick would work well with them, too!

Thanks for this! I tried just cutting slits but then it doesn't match up with any other pre punched happy planner stuff. I like the way you did this. I spent so much time trying to figure out how to get my spiral bound on discs. Thanks for the video!

You're so welcome! I did try to cut slits for discs, just like you described, but since the paper didn't line up with other HP products I left it out of the video. Another workaround is trimming a bit off the top and bottom and just punching on the slits you've already made. The papers will be a little wonky top-to-bottom (it will be uneven) but it might be a good option if you've already cut all of your pages.

@@AimtoPlan Thanks for the idea of the work around! I thought of that but didn't do it. I ended up using the washi tape method of taping and then punching fresh holes which is sooo tedious and adds bulk. I only did some pages though, definitely going to try your way for the rest. 😊

Thank you for this video. I got the EC New daily duo for 2024 2025. They change some things and it’s way too chunky now it’s heavy and I can’t fit it into my backpack anymore. I want to uncoil it and only carry one or two months at a time. So this is a perfect plan to put it on discs

@chocolatemint9225 yes if you are not trying to match to another planner (like I did in this video to match Happy Planner classic), you should be able to punch using the squares from the coil. Thank you for this upload! I just picked up one of the 18 month spirals on clearance so I appreciate the inspiration :). I bought it mostly for the horizontal guts, so that I can add a journaling component to my happy planner.

Also - you can get a book binding glue to 'reattach' the book board to itself. Look up sealemon book binding for ideas on that. She may also have a suggestion on how to fill the coil holes.

I just did a quick search and found mostly stitch binding. I'll keep looking but let me know if you have a specific video that would work. I do think glue would work to keep it from fraying, so thanks for that suggestion!

Make sure to empty the power punch of all the mushrooms. It will help.
