An important thing to remember, and I think this will help a lot of people who are trying to get into this album, it’s to come at it from the fact that it is in fact, a concept album. Probably the most underrated concept album of all time, with the character of Yeezus just being a version of Kanye himself. I also highly recommend Dissect Podcast analysis on the album as well.

Listening to this album again and seeing your friends confusion to some of the context shows how meta a lot of Kanye songs are. Like with blood on the leaves. Not understanding the breeze sample comes from not having contextual knowledge of Nina Simone strange fruit, or in bound 2 when he said can’t get spunk on the mink “damn what would Jeromy, romy Rome think?” He’s refer to the Martin character Jerome the pimp.
