Thank you for making INKSCAPE 'doable' for this senior citizen! I have been laboring to create files to fussy cut my stamped images for me, and cleaning up imported jpeg and PNG files takes a steady hand - which I don't have. I have had limited success with INKSCAPE in the past, but if I don't use it for awhile I have to start all over again to relearn what I have forgotten. I am going to replay your video and make a cheat sheet to keep at my desk. Thank you for your no frills delivery, calm demeaned, clear speech, and great video/audio equipment! I got a Cricut machine yesterday and now I am just starting on Inkscape designing program and I don't understand the functions of the icons and stuff as I never worked with any kind of programs. Almost quit after a few hours of trying to draw a cat :)) Drawing the cat and being satisfied by it is what it took me two hours this morning and two last night. Now, I got excited and drew other objects in connection to the cat but how do I layer them is another story. I think I drove my son out of the house as I was constantly wining for help:)) At 55 my brain gets slower ...Thank you for the tutorial. I learned how to group ungroup, and stuff:)

Just a note to help anyone who dosen't want to waste the extra red Vinyl, if you hide you white layer and slice the blue layer out of the red layer (make sure they are properly lined up) then delete the extra pieces, show your white layer and line everything up again you won't have all of those red & white stars under the blue.

@KalansKrafting4 жыл бұрын
Suzanne Niemeier I have not tried that but I do not see why that would not work.
@shawnh84984 жыл бұрын
well you explained this well and so basic I get it. I will give you some knowledge in return. The stack scans you said you didn't know what it was, it is to my best guess like in gimp or photoshop is layers so each color you have you have 3 is a layer and it is one on top of the other with the other colors transparent so you have say the blue so the white and the red are invisible and the blue layer can be pulled out and moved around and worked on lets say to change the saturation, brightness, or even the hue so you could make a red white and green flag if you decided to. You could also desaturate the red or the green to a grey or anything like that. Just figured this might help your understanding so if you went into a program like gimp or Photoshop you would find it much more understandable when starting out. Also not sure where but there is a layers tab in Inkscape I say in someone else's video that would show how they are stacked so you can use it easily.

Once I bring my svg in cricut it has lots of extra little lines. How do I get rid of those?

Yes sometimes there's crazy extra layers and I really try to work through those in Inkscape first and delete what I don't want. Perhaps the lines you're referring to can just be deleted once brought into Design Space. If it's on it's own layer, you could just simply delete it. Or perhaps try using the contour tool to fill anything in that you may not want. But If it were me, I would pull apart all of the layers that it created in Inkscape and see if there's some that I don't need and just simply remove them.
