Converting Panigale Base V4 to V4R

For the metalworkers out here and those who want to try - I think the stock tank is Aluminium anyway. To get a brushed finish - just strip the paint and run some sandpaper all in the same direction. That's how we get the look with cars. That finish is so fine though it looks more etched than brushed, or finely grit blasted. If weight is important to you.

Yes that definitely works! You won't have the built in extension though. If I knew how to do that (and had the time), I might have tried that.

I ended use putting 3m double sided tape around the fuel filler hole so that it doesn't move around or scratch the tank. It came with her Ducati logos.

The front part on that tank cover like the Contour of the belly looks a lot steeper, you know what I mean? I'm talking about the part where you would put the tank grip pad...the contour looks different then stock...am.i wrong?

You are not wrong. It's a tank cover with a superbike tank extension

Only if they made one for the seat. An extension that is cuz its a great thing for your arms to be held in place at tracks like Laguna Seca. Corkscrew in 3 turns drops down in elevation the height of a 30 story building. All my V4's (3) have the tank covers accept the R for fear of scratching the tank. But who cares, the base V4 is so much faster in all area's. I ride my suicide squad themed v4 the most but it has HEAVY upgrades.

Lol...they r like 4k. The full brushed aluminum tank...but you can get a carbon fiber tank cover to mimics v4s magnificent looking brushed aluminum tank...I thinknim getting mine from vulturbike

@@mikael5028 For a dedicated track bike. I felt like a lot of newer track riders tried to show how fast they were when they saw my bike and made dangerous moves around me. So I want to get something that blends in a bit more at the track in the novice and intermediate group.

It looks great but coming from someone who has a v4s, the problem in my opinion is if someone doesn’t know a v4 then they don’t care if it’s a v4r VS a v4 . If they know Ducati’s then they will know it isn’t a v4r by the suspension . So I feel like you’ll spend more time explaining the tank then enjoying it. But I’m not going to lie,It’s a very tempting mod, I got the carbon fiber wings and frame covers. I think embracing what you have is nicer than trying to make it a v4r . But either way it looks sick obviously and if I didn’t have a bunch of people who would call me out , I’d be tempted. But on the track and where most people are dying to say something about these bikes. I’d probably take it off just to save the time explaining it.

Oh I'm trying to make it LOOK like a V4R because I like the aesthetics. I'm not trying to pretend it's a V4R. Everyone at the track even in the Desmo Club thought it was an R and I'm more then happy to talk about how it's a base and the mods I did. But with that being said... I'm never taken this to the track..I was in the Novice Group and many ppl try to show the bigger displacement bikes how fast their smaller ones are and they make very dangerous moves around me. I'd rather get an inconspicuous bike and enjoy it (not mention not worrying about dropping it at track)

Yes it’s just a tank cover and for a tank cover it’s rather expensive. Mine started cracking after 20 miles. I’m not happy and the company won’t provide a refund or discount.

VulturBike makes one that’s $800. My friend has it and his hasn’t started cracking to my knowledge. I think it’s the extension on mine. But I now put double sided tape on it so hope it doesn’t crack from shifting a bit.

Yes. It's an SBK tank. I didn't know this until you pointed it and I did some research. The tank is purposely extended to provide greater control and body positioning. I noticed this difference at my track day session too. This cover also acts as a tank protector which is really cool.

IMO think I'd rather have the wet clutch and 1103 Engine. The V4 all round is a better bike. If you have unlimited time and money and only ride track then yeah maybe a V4R would suit you better.

I don't think it's the same at all. The V4 is a totally different bike. Much more expensive, not great on the street because of the powerband, and has a dry clutch which exponentially increases maintenance frequency and costs. It's also much more fun to mod a bike than to just buy it.
