To this day.. whenever that breakdown hits, I get misty eyed and goosebumps all over my body. This was filmed at Moscow Music Peace Festival. HUGE crowd. The misty eyed part comes from 2 of the members (Dimebag and Vinnie) are no longer with us. They way they play together is unmatched. I love reactions to this song..

I was friends with the late Abbott Brothers, Dime and Vinnie were to of the nicest guys you could ever know. I got to spend some time with them on the road back in 1996. It was a wild time, I miss them both.

Sorry for your loss. May they both RIP. I saw them in the early 2000's in NYC and was one of the best shows I'd ever been to. Saw the tribute tour last year and even though Dime and Vinnie will never be replaced, it was great hearing those songs live again after 20 some odd years.

I had the opportunity to meet Vinnie about 9 months before he passed. Hellyeah had a show that night and Vinnie and a roadie were walking around downtown. I was blown away at how down to Earth and gracious he was. Metal Royalty

This song is so hard, just when you got a face shredding guitar solo into the hardest breakdown you get another guitar solo. I also remember a trip to lake Tahoe a buddy was with me and i was listening to a metal mix and i said to him, "the next song is Domination by Pantera" and it fuckin came on. Something about this song

Dude!! Are you not familiar with 90's metal? Metal music was meant for long songs. It gives the instruments a chance to roll. Metal isn't pop or grunge that puts out the cookie cutter music wrapped up in 3:30 minute boxes! Metal was all about length, solos, breakdowns, transitions. These bands like Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth and others gave their fans more for their buck. You say this song could've been a 4 minute song...true metal heads don't want that! They want an experience to last. It's about stage presence, sucking the crowd into a metal tornado! Punk, grunge, pop, and hip hop doesn't give you that. You won't find those genres drawing 1.6 million fans to their concerts. The concert you just watched was in Moscow 1991 with Pantera, Metallica, AC/DC and I think Anthrax. I understand this is your opinion on this song but know your history and content when you compare. Cheers!!

If you are trying to get a punk into Pantera, I'd recommend "I Can't Hide." And for Tendencies, I'd say "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow."

Crazy thing here is that Pantera originally started in the early 80's as a 'hair/glam' metal band. They released several albums which did not do much. When Phil joined the band in the late 80's, he was said to have brought some heavier Thrash and Punk albums in to listen to, which help reform the band from their original act into what they would become after the release of "Cowboys From Hell". While often referred to as a 'groove metal band', Pantera can play Thrash and Hard Core Punk as well or better than many bands could.
@deemonik9 ай бұрын
I've never known anybody to consider two solos from dimebag as a negative thing. This version is a little long-winded and it comes to Phil's vocals, but the breakdown at the end and the band members instrumental masteries are second to none.

As a longtime Pantera fan since I found them in high school, Floods is one of my absolute favorite songs by them. I think it captures a lot of the essence of the band perfectly. Its soft, melodic, but also super fucking heavy at times as well. I think, feeling wise, it represents Pantera as a band perfectly. Its Angry, Sad, in Pain, and almost screaming for help, while trying to stay strong and hard as possible. You really need to understand the history of the band and what they were going through when they wrote these songs to understand the deeper depths of the melodies and lyrics, but thats my personal opinion.

The idea behind this channel is that one person loves the song already, and is introducing it to a friend who normally does not listen to that genre of music. We wanted to keep the channel honest, which means that sometimes the other person listening will admit that they don't get the appeal. (Though in this case, both people like the song!)
