Converting R22 A/C System to Summit Plus R407c with Superchange

Reading through the comments I believe the guy in the video should have introduced the product better. This is NOT just 407c. It is 407c PLUS. The PLUS is referring to the addition of some magical additive called SuperChange. This SuperChange supposedly mixes in with the original mineral oil and prevents the sludge problems you would normally get if you tried to run straight 407c with miner oil. Because of this it supposedly allows it to be a direct r22 replacement without the need to change the oil out to POE, etc.

I work with someone that swears that he has changed r22 systems with just 407c with no issues. I was under the impression that the oils would cause issues with this type of retrofit. Someone enlighten me..

What about the compressor oil you have mineral oil in the old application you should be draining it and replacing it with Synthetic or you will have sludge developing in the evaporator causing horrible efficiencies...let me know how you get around this with your product? thanks.

I'm thinking you should have done this with 427A refrigerant as then the oil is more compatible. Or you should have pulled the compressor and pulled out the mineral oil and replaced with the POE oil. The efficiency will be low and eventually the the two oils will slowly create sludge. Also, if any residual water was in the system R22 and mineral oil will still be okay. However, POE oil is 1000 more water absorbing then the R22 mineral oil. So if the system was opened or installed without a proper vacuum it may have been okay with the mineral oil but you just signed the death certificate by adding the POE without the dryer filter. I'd would like to put some gauges on this system and see how it is doing now.

The system wasn't open to air but the drier should still have been changed. Just because someone says it's not necessary doesn't fix the problems it could give the customer 5 years from now.

IF not adding POE OIL it will foam the oil. compressor in this video is noise not good. all dyrer need be removed from behind service valve and place outside the unit for true high psi can be seen. Never reinstall a dryer back inside unit. I use 1/2 in copper in it place. As a coupling.

I like what you're doing that's awesome I'm going to start doing it with my own Apartments,,,, this is my question on the data before if the system was it low of R22 did you dump 1 through 2 or 3 lb in it to get an exact reading,,, or is your data from an undercharged system,,,,,, because am I thinking to get correct pre change data you would need to have a correctly charge R22 system to get correct data,,,,, I really like what you doing I think you're a good company,,,,

They are not the same but close to each other. Search for the key words "refrigerant slider". And you'd better pay attention to evaporating and condensing temperatures instead of pressures.

Three days ago an HVAC tech removed my 4ton R22 dead compressor outside unit, and replaced it with a 4ton R407C unit, WITHOUT adding POE or any other lubricant. He charged it with 6 pounds of R407C without weighing the R22. Whats going to happen now to the new unit and the inside old unit? Will the AC system get damaged Thanks

The POE lubricant is in the new compressor no need to add. The amount of refrigerant needed in a system can be determined by measuring the superheat and or subcooling temperature once the system is up and running.. hope this helps.

How and where did u find an hvac contractor that would do the work!!? 😂 I have a pile of cash and not one sob in the area where I live will sell me a new furnace and ac and install it cuz I live in a 1977 mobile home I own free of any debt and for being a single mother with no support from my ex…I think I’ve done pretty ok considering I own my home and land and my vehicles…lol…but idk if it’s the fact that I’m a single woman, or the fact I own an older mobile home or what that they’re discriminating against me with…but at 108 degrees the day I waited 8 hours for the sob to show up…he was already 8 hours late but decided he didn’t seem me worthy of wasting r22 on my unit I already have but needs charged and decided nah! He wasn’t gonna even sell me a new set up either! Must be banking in his other scams around town and doesn’t want my cash…I’d like to know how the hell u can get an hvac guy to even show up! They’re notorious for taking ur money and never showing back up to install the unit u just paid $6000 for!!!

Somehow A/C people make lousy cameraman, lousy sound man, and lousy explanation man. There were so many steps missing: from what port (High/Low pressures) do you remove the R-22 ? How did you replaced the oil? From what port do you load the 407C. What is meant "with Superchange" ? Maybe you guys hire a video making high school guy?
