Young and ambitious journalist Maija knows that to make her dream come true and to work in „New York Times” she must do something that none has ever had strength to do. She decides to do an experiment, which target is joining one of the camps in Syria that prepares terrorists of the Islamic state, so she could explore from the inside how does the radical Islam movement work. But Maija realises that alone she will not be able to do it, because even between the most conservative and radical Muslims, women has a small chance to say something. That is why Maija asks for help Juris. Juris is Maijas colleague, who is also hungry for success and appreciation, but even more is interested in Maija, who embodies the ideal women for him. But Juris is too cautious and all the time tries to convince Maija that it is very dangerous in Syria. So Maija has nothing else left than to ask for help her ex-boyfriend Anrijs, who is fearless, manages Martial arts and still loves Maija. With intellect of Juris and fearlessness of Anrijs, Maija feels more confident that the experiment could succeed. Three of them start to pretend as fundamental Muslims so they could earn the trust of local Latvian Muslim community and get necessary contacts for their journey to Syria. Unfortunately making contacts turns into complicated process, because none of the local Muslims show their interest in Islamic state and cannot help the young. Until the moment, when they are forced to go to a secret meeting with one of the Muslim brothers Ahmed, who announces that the young must immediately go to Daugavpils. At that moment there reveals branched underground Islamic organization, which throws the young from Riga to Daugavpils and from Daugavpils to Latvian - Russian boarder. In each place they meet different radical Islam representative, which in some way also is a challenge for the young, because they must convince others of their strong belief. Everything is made even more complicated because of their relationship. Even though Juris acts as a leader of the team, he is now not so sure if they need to continue the experiment and if it is safe. Whereas Anrijs with his boldness and lack of knowledge threatens to dump the experiment, still he is the one who pushes the team forward. Maija is forced to use both young men sympathies for her, so she could control them and would not let the experiment fail. But meeting the local Islamist leader Mustafa, makes everything even more difficult. His requirement of going to Afghanistan not Syria and drug smuggling, surprises and shocks the young. Even though Maija is still ready to continue the experiment, this time Juris demands Maija to stop it. But it is not so easy to stop it right now. They are already so implicated in the branched Latvian Islamist organization that the only way, how to end the experiment, is to run away. But escaping also turns into another challenge for the relationship between the young that unfortunately leads to Maija being the only one who runs away and survives.
