Great video… I had a question… you had a bmpcc 4K whose colours and the image quality were Arri like….then why did you upgrade to a Sony fx6 which has a totally different colour science and eco-system ? You could have gone for the black magic ursa mini pro g2 4.6k or the red Komodo..also considering the fact that it would have been easy for you to use the ef mount lenses that you had already. I myself am a Sony user and I wish to upgrade to a bmpcc 6k pro for film works..
@CaptainMyCaptain332 жыл бұрын
Was wondering the same thing. Guessing it’s more due to features that black magic doesn’t have? I also agree on the looks of each camera. I used Sony for 15 years and always felt it was far too, “broadcast” looking. We started with the old Sony VX-1000; Pd and Vx2000 cameras which at the time were great cameras. But it was always for broadcast work. And Sony has kept that look ever since. I own the original bmpcc and the pocket 4 and 6K and absolutely love those cameras except for the body designs (can’t stand that DSLR body) and it’s greens. It’s greens are very muted even after CC- I like rich greens and grass to look like grass haha. I think he should of invested in good glass vs a camera. Glass makes all the difference. From there I think the RED would of been the best and most logical camera to upgrade too in the price range.
@roscosart18882 жыл бұрын
Why not!! Does it really matter what camera people upgrade to. Pros and cons to all systems. With great lighting and color grading, you can make most cameras look Cinematic or Arri like these days.
@dna82692 жыл бұрын
@@roscosart1888 True, but image quality is definitely a thing. 6K sensor looks different from the RED Dragon etc

Just out of curiosity why do you call these “cinematic lighting” when your set ups are almost always more for stills / photographs? Is it because you are a photographer and are transitioning into cinematography? Or? The reason I’m asking this is because I don’t think your lighting setups are bad, I just think that you don’t think about camera movement, character movement or angles at all. In fact your camera, (nor characters) never move, everything you do is stationary. Which is why I was curious if you’re a photographer as the set ups are all designed around it. Again. Nothing wrong with it. It has direct application in both fields. But I think there is a lot more to lighting for moving film and I think you need to explore some of that, as well as learn to maintain some skin tone no matter the scene. Hopefully this will inspire you or give you some ideas to challenge yourself to move the camera more and maybe not completely smurf bathe the character in one single color but do that and keep the skin tones. It’s pretty tricky but the pay off is worth it. Hope I’m making sense. Sorry you’re sad.

Main reasoning is that the majority of these videos I am doing with minimal resources and often all I can get is a stand in or stand in myself

I know you make these videos through your channel, and they’re amazing! But out of curiosity would you ever consider coming on board a short film if someone were to pay you your rate for the project? I know you’ve created some films in the past but just wondered if you would come on board someone else’s if they reached out to you
