Conway Scenic Railroad New Year's Special 2022 - Featuring 255 and 252, and a chase! 1-2-22

After trekking out to North Conway, I went and stood outside in the rain at Intervale for half an hour. I was wondering where 7470 could possibly be, knowing it should've been through with Steam in the Snow by then. Though I then got word of 7470 having a small fire, causing the Steam in the Snow to be cancelled, and for Conway Scenic to run a train of their own instead. This train had the recently acquired 255 (ex CLP 203, nee MEC 255), and it had 252, which had just returned to service. Enjoy the chase through the rainy weather of this truly scenic train!

Seeing that old budd liner made me feel nauseous. Mbta held on to those for too long. I hated those things. Nice video btw.😀

This line and rolling stock looks in a remarkable state of good repair for a "zombie railway". Now if only it could serve a transportation function, as opposed to going nowhere and turning around.

Thanks! The location of that video is Albany Avenue in Bartlett, New Hampshire. Behind me is the old Maine Central locomotive shed.

I just learned that locomotive 7470 had a fire go off inside of its cab & had to be sidelined. I wonder if it will run again by 2023?

I sure hope so! I don’t believe that the damage was severe, so it probably will be.
