KOCHLAND/KOCHBEHAR HENG TONG

Thank you very much for showcasing and explaining very well about our history. We koch-Rajbanshis of west bengal don't know about our own history because west bengal government don't teach us our history in government schools, people of west bengal don't even know that Coochbehar which is now a district was a princely state before and the culture of this region is very different from bengalis. After the merger agreement, the last king of coochbehar favoured in joining with assam or to have its own state than with west bengal but the then first CM of West bengal Dr. B C ray merged coochbehar with west bengal without the mandate of the people ofcoochbehar. Since then the people-koch rajbanshis have been deprived from their rights and that's why the demand for separate state like Kamatapur and Greater Coochbehar comes up. However your explanation will really help those people who don't know.

@@junpreet9261 His grandmother was kalita (kayastha)and grand father was Koch. Srimanta Sankardeva was Kayastha and Chilarai married Sankardeva's neice. In Assam, Koch and Kalita are close allies and they marry each other. So, people of Assam also term them as Koch-kalita.

@@junpreet9261 Koch-Kalita term is only used in upper Assam. Koch and kalita are two different communities. Koch is Mongoloid and Kalita is Alpine-Aryan community. However, both Koch and Kalita community of Assam have close relationship from the time of Sankardeva and Chilarai. And both establishes marital relationships. Even Narayan gave Sankardeva shelter and patronized Assamese culture. Sankardeva established Satra and Namghar at Koch Bihar under rule of Naranarayana. Both communities are together termed in Assam as Koch-kalita. I am neither a Koch, nor a Kalita.

Hehe. For Bhutan who is koch Rajbongshi. Even for Koch Rajbongshi doesn't exist. Earlier there is no community called Rajbongshi, they called themselves Assamese. When Assamese didn't take them now they called themselves Rajbangshi.

Dada last main thora jaldi kar diya. 1949 main jab Koch Bihar State India main samil hua tab wo alag state ki rup main samil hua. Lekin iske bad 1950 main koch Bihar State ko asambidhanik tarikhe se west bengal ke sath mila diya gaya. Aur abh kamrup ko Assam ki ek district aur koch Bihar ko west bengal ki ek district bana diya gaya hai. Aur to aur Assam ke koch rajbanshi logo ko Assamese aur West Bengal ke Koch rajbanshi logo ko bengali bana diya gaya hain. Pura koch rajbanshi community ka state ke sath sath unka identity bhi khatam kar diya gaya hain.
