I am from Jamaica and we oil our hands with cooking oil prior to peeling green Bananas. Also, I peel the Bananas like Ugandans.

ahh, I'm from Jamaica and I cut the ends and core it after a which I use my hand to peel it. using the knife cut away too much of the banana it's like wasting it. ha! ha!

I'm a Nigerian and I visited Uganda in 2016. It was a memorable one. I ate matoke on daily bases and I really really enjoyed every bit of my stay. They are easy going people.

In kenya we also apply some oil on the hand so that the banana cannot discoul ur 🙌🏽 then we cut it alittle like dee then peel it with ur hands without-using a knife.if we use the knife you can cut the banana so much.

The Kenyan way of cutting it is the Nigerian way but I think I love the Ugandan way. Looks so easy.

Dee I see u put on ur apron. Good job Dee. In Jamaica we use a little oil and rub them together to clean the hands, looking on all those ingredients make me want to go in my fridge and start preparing food to cook. Good job. Good job guys. I love avocado. Wow Enjoy. Everything looks delicious.

It’s amazing how big your meals are, yet you are thin and fit. Bananas have a lot of calories just like ungali yet your sizes are beautiful. God bless. I love learning about Africa and traditions, very beautiful. You’re never too old to learn, I’m 59 and still learning.

I don't think you have matoke in Jamaica, what you have is call plantain. It has a different colour and texture when cooked.

@@proscoviaotim6040 we have both plantain and bananas here in Jamaica the plantain is much bigger than banana if there was a way I could sent you a picture I would Davy Jnr and I talk on WhatsApp we talk on video call and he sees our bananas just like Kenya the plantain is a bit coarse in texture but the bananas is much, much softer but we cook it totally different from them👍🏿

@@proscoviaotim6040 Jamaica was the first commercial producer of bananas in the western hemisphere. At present we have over 150 variety in our gene pool. We have several different kinds of both plantains and bananas in Jamaica. It is a staple food in our country, we also use to be very large on exporting same. We also have snacks made from both plantain and bananas, porridge , salads and punches.

Dee Mwango Try boil the bananas with the skin... Put water a table spoonful of oil and a table spoonful of vinegar or lemon juice in the water then boil bananas...when finish boiling and cool, peel it. It will never turn black or dark. That is how l boil my green bananas... I make punch, salads, put it in soups, boil and fry it with saltfish, make chips and flour.

In Barbados we peel the Kenyan way. We put oil on our hands first. But some will cook the green bananas in the skin , let them cool and then peel them.

We eat our bananas ripe and we dont cook them, I cant wait to visit and eat cooked bananas maybe i should try cooking them

Cooking bananas aren't the same as the ones you eat when ripe. The cooking bananas have a lot of starch in them. If you really want to try cooking the usual bananas you eat while ripe then cook them when they are just beginning to ripen.
