When I was growing up as a child, my mom & aunts always canned. They'd can corn, beets, green beans, different varieties of pickles.. Canned goods in jars were always the best tasting.

The stew looked beautiful and so tasty! Just a hint.. The fill mark is right at the bottom ring of the jar.. and for left over veggies you can throw then in a jar and can those. When I got comfortable with canning I would do double loads if I was doing pints.. Then I branched out to different soups and veggies. The Amish Canning book has great soup recipes. You may be able to order jars online at walmart or Sam's Club. Don't forget to keep extra lids on hand.. Happy Canning!

Removing these air bubbles helps prevent spoilage by leaving adequate room (headspace) for food to expand as it heats up in the jar during processing time. Air bubbles can cause a problem if they prevent your lid from getting a good seal.

Canning is tons of fun if you enjoy it. My favorite things to bottle is jams, super easy and there are so many yummy concoctions and the flavor is superb to store bought! Especially if you have littles who enjoy pb&j or if you do homemade biscuits and jam. Enjoy your new adventure the canning community is a fun one!

I want to learn canning. I only have an instant pot. I do plan to get a canner. I think prepping is a great idea. It’s just me, a single Christian dad and my sons. I know it’s an odd dynamic but their mother walked out on us in 2017 when they were little. We’re doing great though. There are a couple channels that removed me as I didn’t fit their family dynamic. I hope I am welcome here. Loving your channel.

I absolutely love watching canning videos..I’m hoping if I watch enough I’ll do it myself...pressurized cooking scares the crap out of me so I am hoping to see tons of positive cannings in the hopes that it will help me get over my fear that is purely based on hearsay from years and years ago. I’m 33 and always grew up hearing horror stories of pressure cooking and it petrified me. Hoping to get over that I would love to be able to do this for my family also. The satisfaction of canning my own soups and veggies would be amazing

I love canning, I water bath mine, although I have several pressure cookers, I just haven't worked up my confidence to use them yet for that, I use the pots for my water bath....... I did 3 bushels of tomatoes, and 2 of cucumbers this year, I want to make soups and stews , but I need to do them in the pressure cooker....... as far as some of the veggies your kids don't care for,, I would blend them,, so they would cook down more,, I do that with my husband when I'm first introducing him to a vegetable.....yes he was fussy about not eating his veggies once, he was raised on TV dinners and junk food,, so I had to teach him nutrition!! But blending the veggies and adding them to stuff really makes a difference......such a great feeling to just grab homeade tomatoes out of my pantry...... thank you for sharing!! Great job!! BTW, if it's really late when you can, and it's done with the pressure cooking time, like your able to shut the burner off, and tge steam has released, you can just leave the jars in the canner overnight, it doesn't hurt them, I have seen several others do that, it saves time and they will just cool no problem.

Great job Tabitha! I don’t have any experience pressure canning. I did water bath canning only. I haven’t canned in 30+ yrs. I do however freeze my tomato juice, veggies, and fruits. Which won’t help us if our power goes down. My freezers are clear full. But it’s what I can do at this season in my life! I would prefer to can, but will have to be happy with freezing my wares right now. But I think it’s so smart to can! Yours looked stunning! What a game changer it will be when your busy or just don’t feel like cooking to go pull a jar! You go girl!😃❤️

A few beginner tips....do not move, shake, lift the jars, or remove the rings for the first 24 hours after they come out of the canner (you can compromise the seal). I shake my jars while I am putting the veggies in them (before added the broth). It helps compact the contents and you aren't shoving the meat, etc down which can create air pockets. Air pockets can cause your jars to explode while in the canner, thus the need to de-bubble. Also, if you are going to add warm/hot liquid to your jars it is best to have warm jars and warm water in your canner. This will prevent busted jars as well. You can cold pack/fill your jars just make sure your liquid isn't boiling hot...think more room temperature. Then your canner also needs to not be hot as well. You want all your steps to be the same temperature to reduce the risk of a busted jar. I have never had a busted jar by following this method. You look so happy canning. Congrats on your new journey.

Oh! Tip! I'm majoring in microbiology and biochemistry and huge into canning in my tiny dorm haha but don't leave the rings after your jars have cooled completely! The vacuum seal will keep if done correctly so no worries there but if you keep the rings on and one of your seals break the ring can cause it to seal over again and you wouldn't know. Once it has completely cooled and you take the rings off, you should actually be able to hold up your jars by the sealed flat lid alone; it's that strong! But that can help keep you safe from any bacteria or contaminants!

Jamerill Stewart uses some tall jars to store her prepped salads for the week (using applesauce cups at the top for dressings I think) that way she can stay on track with her eating. Maybe you could utilize that as well now that you have the jar. Just dump the dressing in shake it up and eat!
