It doesn’t sound like a good idea or a suitable choice. There ought to be a time and place for certain things like that. This takes out the actual meaning and seriousness out of an event that is to aimed for adults.

It's sports. It's high level sports. It is athletes who have trained for years to be at the top physical condition. It is an incredible level of dedication, time, and effort. But it's still sports. It is not some super serious political diplomatic thing like a state dinner, an incredibly important negotiating session, or something similar. I really don't see the harm in having a few segments of the Sesame Street characters interacting with athletes or commentators. There are probably going to be kids watching, so why not include the occasional something for them.

@@RetroGirl1967 yes on the whole thing about kids in the room, I saw that one coming however it makes something like that for the Olympics is both exciting and solemn look like a total farce. Though it could be possible that Cookie Monster is providing some comic relief for the adults.

@@nataliebohay5019 I am totally opposed to Cookie Monster or any of the Sesame Street characters being part of the medal ceremonies or interviewing the athletes after a win. I don't see a problem if they have the Sesame Street characters talking to the commentators or doing bits around the Olympic Village to fill airtime between events.
