Older people just know more things from a technological standpoint, I've actually became like that ever since I started using old fashioned technology, where I would usually understand how a thing works just by pressing a few buttons, or usually just by looking at it. That's how their technology worked.

That's really impressive how you understood what is going on so quickly, I would like to point out though that the music is actually very important for the game, it's a bit hard to notice in this song since there are so many circles coming so quickly, but every circle actually follows the beat of the music. For example this song is 220 beats per minute, and the long chains of circles are made up of circles coming every 1/4 beat. To get a good score you need to hit all circles with good timing :)
@williamroeben6 жыл бұрын

Unfortunately, this beatmap was a poor example of this game being a rhythm game. Usually, the circles would be placed so that they fit into the rhythm of the song. That makes it slightly easier than just having music in the background there to distract you. You were right though, you use your mouse to direct the cursor over the circles, and you use some of the keys to click at the right moments.

I've had a hard time explaining this game to friends while playing it because they just didn't get it. You even picked up on the rhythm part about it being less about the music and more about accurately clicking to its beat. Top players in every mode are ridiculously skilled, and they're fun to watch. Exgon is a Catch the Beat player and without a doubt is an alien. People new to osu! often can't catch up with the circles on harder maps which makes them think it dosen't match up to the rhythm.
@uaekappa6 жыл бұрын
This is the last thing I thought I would see you reacting to. Quite a pleasant surprise, this is my favorite game :D In the game, the player (Cookiezi, and it's a he) is using the tablet to move the cursor (the yellow ball flying around) to the circles in time with the music, and when the outer circle closes in on it, taps with the keyboard. What makes this play impressive, is that since his right hand is occupied with the tablet and pen, he is restricted to only being able to use his left hand to tap. If the note is hit too early or late, the overall accuracy (Shown in the top right during gameplay) decreases.
@williamroeben6 жыл бұрын

as he has to click circles with 2 fingers only and rapidly, his left hand would suffer a lot. Usually many players would suffer from immersive pain and feel tired easily. Like in 6:09 he clicks 33 times accurately in just 2-3 seconds. Cookiezi is some of the top players who can keep up with the speed.

The clicks are synced to the music, all those tapping noises you here aren't part of the song, they're a way of hearing if you clicked in time, so it is even more impressive when you realise that he's tapping to a 220 BPM so You should also react to Cookiezi play The Pretender on double speed in this game.

You should definitely see some more clips regarding this game, you'll be mindblown even more considering how advanced in terms of skill the people are compared to the previous days. One of the reasons this play is so impressive is because of the BPM also known as Beats per minute (duh). The higher the BPM, the faster you have to click and what he did in this video most of the times is click at the speed of 222bpm 1/4th beat which is approx. 15 clicks per second. some people managed to reach up to 300bpm which is ~20 clicks per second (some even clicked 300bpm singletap which is approx. 10 clicks per second). It's not exactly a rhythm game, but at the same time it is. There's a reason why. What you saw being played is called a "beatmap" and the beatmap is created by an individual person. He put all the octagones there in what he feels should be the "beat" or "rhythm" of the song at which you click, if it's a rhythm of a song like that, they're usually put 1/4th beat apart and you have to click them really fast following the trail, however, some songs aren't like that and they have a drum beat to them that's 1/2 beat, but at the same BPM. Those are put at a distance between each other and it takes aim to hit them, especially if they're far apart and are relatively fast. Finally, the tunnel-looking things are called "sliders" and you have to click the octagone with the number (by the way, they're literally called circles, just circles, nothing else) and follow the ball inside the trail, there's a small area that you can go outside of the "ball" thingy, but it's so small you're basically always in the ball. I hope I could give you some useful information and didn't give too much of a mindfuck
@williamroeben6 жыл бұрын
