When you first opened it I thought it was like a lunch box that you take to work and you can heat your lunch up without electricity. I know the Shinkansen in Japan has lunchboxes that you pull a string and the bento heats up. So it seems more of a cooker than a bento box? Would be nice if you could just heat up your food without electricity.

Know I'm a bit late to the party but if the OP is still looking for a non-electric "lunchbox" style food warmer/cooker, I have something called a Barocook which uses chemical reactions to heat up food in a contained double broiler style, its sold as a camping/outdoor invention but I also use it for work to heat up prepped meals from a mini cooler

I have been using a similar cooker for 2 years at office. My regulars are kimchi with rice/ noodles, kimchi/ miso soup with rice/noodles/ macaroni. That's pretty much it cause I'm too lazy to do any preparation, I have those ingredients in my office, half an hour before lunch time, just pop the ingredients in and start it up, go back to work and lunch will be ready. =)

It tastes good... I forgot who and when I was taught about it. I just normally add sugar and milk or sometimes just sugar. Edit: Just to clarify, I (we) use the one after the rice/water starts to boil. You just scoop up some of the excess water and transfer it to a mug. So if you plan to do this make sure to add extra water to the rice.

I got this a couple of months ago but am only now gong to start using it - thanks for the video. I don't love cooking but I love messing about with these little things, especially when travelling. I have used other cookers and my favourite thing to do with rice is to add bacon or sliced chinese sausage (lap cheong) into it. Everything gets cooked evenly and the rice smell is heavenly! Another is to break an egg on top of the rice once I switch off the light (other type of cooker) then cover the pot again for 10 minutes. You get something like an onsen egg. Love that random Bleach pajamas swag!

GISJIng Correct. Arsenic is in the soil the world over, but rice, growing in water, absorbs traces of arsenic which is highest in the bran, so washing rice helps to reduce the levels even further.

Wait does it just steam until the the water is all uh "steamed/boiled away"? Because then you can adjust the cook time by how much water you put. More water? Then it cooks/steams longer until all water is gone/mostly gone. Idk how else the box would automatically know when to stop cooking._. But this is genius. Just have to work on making different sauces so you're not eating same flavors everyday.

My rice usually comes out undercooked after the shutoff timer activates. I add a bit more water to the heating compartment and a little more water (eyeballing it) to the rice. When the rice is ready it’s usually mushy. Any suggestions on the exact amount of water/rice/water in heating compartment. I’m using basmati rice.

I think the plastic lids are for transporting food so they don’t spill. I wish they had more recipe ideas, but they actually gave me another free one for submitting a recipe idea! Just throw stuff in there and experiment, makeup a recipe and ask for a free lunchbox haha

Hi, do you mind telling me what is the brand of your cooker? I've checked out Amazon and they carry a lot of models and different brands. Also, the prices differ from one to the next. I am thinking of getting one same as yours as I think it's appropriate for a person who lives alone. Thanking you in advance.

Hey @thedaboki thanks v much for posting this! I just got one of these as well. Silly questions but just wondering how do we tell how much water to add? My instruction manual isn’t very helpful either. Do you usually cook your food first at home before bringing to work and thereafter steam it in the office? Thanks!
@TheDaBoki
@TheDaBoki 5 жыл бұрын
I really have been eyeballing it.. The instructions were not clear at all. Just doing trial and error lol. I would probably prep some food if I'm taking it to work first, and just use it mainly to heat it up, unless I have a pretty long lunch break that day
