I love your personality! Some vids are informative but kind of dry to watch - I love watching you! Even what would normally be the slowest part- making the dumplings- you bring in other stuff, like replying to comments, and memories about your family, and tips on how to do it. And the llama! I love that llama moving around! I got one of these lunchboxes and I was "This is awesome!.... how do I use it?" You have totally helped with that! Thank you!

Dumpling talk: mine's dropping in a quarter of a stock cube, a tablespoon of rice wine, a ton of garlic, and a good grating of ginger in the dumpling filling. My mom loves them fried too, and my pops and I love them pan seared. I make the wrappers from scratch, as the fam and I find the premade ones to have a slightly unpleasant sour aftertaste. Any remaining wrapper doesn't go to waste- we fill em up with cheese, mince, and long green chilies & fry em up. Awesome snack!

Yeah dumpling making was my family bonding time as well. We made our own dumpling skins as well from scratch so tons of bonding time... Each person as a different job. One making the dough one, rolling the dough into skins, one wrapping, another cooking.

We made vegan dumplings from scratch (including the skins). I used cabbage, shiitake mushroom, grated carrot, tofu, minced fresh ginger, onion, green garlic (not sure what to call it, it’s like green onions though), tamari, rice wine vinegar, and coconut sugar. They turned out really tasty! I had to air fry them though because the flour I used to make the skins was soft white whole wheat flour and that ended up being a mistake. I will only use a hard red whole wheat flour from now on (our family is whole food plant based, no oil). The kids had a blast making them and they got to learn about Lunar New Year, which many of their neighbors and school friends celebrate.
@TheDaBoki6 жыл бұрын
That sounds like so much fun! Wow I really want to try coconut sugar. Your dumplings sounds super tasty, and seems like it was an amazing time to bond with the family :)

새해 복 많이 받으세요! (Got this from google, hope it's right!) For dumplings, you want to shred the cabbage and then cut it into one inch pieces. Salt the cabbage and mix it well (for one head, you only need about a teaspoon) and leave it in a strainer for around 10-15 minutes. Then squeeze it to release the rest of the liquid. The cabbage is now ready to mix with the meat :) I love experimenting with dumplings, it's so much fun. One of my favorites is to add some shredded apple (I use a box grater, the kind for cheese) and mix it with ground pork. Dash of salt, a little cinnamon, a bit of cardamom, some ginger, and brown sugar. So good, and very fragrant! I also make my own bao (ppang in Korean, I think?) and one of my absolute favorites for sweet bao is cubed asian pear, halved raspberries, and a bit of white sugar with chinese five spice powder. Although, I think curry buns are my absolute favorite type of bao :D Edit: You'll find that each type of cooking method will change the flavor of your dumplings, which means if you cook 10 dumplings out of a batch of thirty with each method, they'll each taste different! It's quite fun :) And be adventurous, food is meant to be a journey!

1. I would recommend for you to use a mixing bowl 😑😑😑 2. Have the lunch box steaming hot first before placing the dumplings so that the wrapper will not get soggy. 3. You can put sesame oil at the top steamer so that the dumplings won't stick or even at the bottom to add flavor to your broth.
