HEY! It works! Thanks for posting. In the Army we used two Esbits one cup unwashed rice with two cups water. Put the canteen cup on top of the esbit stove, light, cover, and come back an hour latter. Rice stuck to the bottom added to your AM coffee. Yep...

I found this on the web ( Amazon ) or in some stores that have the Felt Carbon Fiber Welding Blanket. I got a couple sheets of the 1/4 inch thick felt. I cut 7 pieces to fit in the bottom tray of a Fire Dragon Multi Fuel Cooker. The pieces were placed on their sides and stacked side by side and level with the side of the ***** fire dragon cooker. I use denatured alcohol in it as the fuel for the flame. I sealed the corners of the Fire Dragon Cooker with JB Weld just as a precaution against any leaking. A canteen cup can sit lengthwise on the stove ( not across it ) so most of the bottom is exposed to the flame for even heating. *****The Fire Dragon Cooker is basically identical to your Esbit but with one difference . The bottom tray is solid without any holes in it so a liquid fuel can be used. DENATURED alcohol will not soot up the bottom of the canteen cup since it burns clean.

I was looking at a BCB, however based on testing other people have done I don't know if there's a suitable for water purification unless I significantly modify the stove to take an alcohol burner.

Too much rice and thus too much water for an Esbit Tablet. A windscreen would have improved things somewhat.

@@armyboy0579👍 .. good idea. I have two Esbit Stoves .. one being my original issue back in 1968 when I did my Military National Service and both are still in regular use. I keep a sealed pack of the Esbit Tablets in each stove for 'just in case'. However, my GoTo is Alcohol-based Liquid and Gel Fuels. Reason? Here in Switzerland, the Esbit Tabs can only be got at select Outdoor Stores and are quite expensive. Online .. also pricey and some providers do not ship directly to Switzerland. The the Alcohol-based Fuels I can get down at my local Supermarket or just about anywhere else .. and .. they are much cheaper. Burners? I make my own .. plenty of used Cans and Containers that one can reclaim and use for that purpose. Fill the liquid fuel burners with Ceramic / Glass Wool or Carbon Cloth and the risk of burning fuel spillage is greatly reduced. Yes, they require 'topping up' but, I am a 'Boomer' (YOB 1950) and was raised as not to let non-entities such as that be an issue. It's nice to see 'traditional military gear' being used .. thanks for sharing. Enjoy .. and take care ..
