I googled "Should you salt cooking oil while cooking" and it came up with this, "adding salt to cooking oil is unnecessary and counterproductive. Unless you tasted both, there's no way you can really know... Brooklyn's chips were cooking for longer and so probably softer on the inside... and a steak is a steak - basting is a good technique but not difficult. Brooklyn's method for flavouring the steak with rosemary, without burning the rosemary was more impressive - probably something he picked up from Gordon Ramsay. But overall the steaks look about the same...
