These are the best instructions. I like the white asparagus soup and also "ragout" good with the pieces. We are in asparagus-growing region in USA but it is always green. I love it also.

Definitely one of my favourite season of the year. With a white asparagus I don't need much, just a few boiled potatoes, some clear butter or sauce hollandaise and I'm fine.

We bought white asparagus freshly harvested that morning in the market in the castle in Nuremberg--- it was lovely with smoked ham!

I never knew you needed to peel asparagus, so I've learned something there. Not that I can find white asparagus anyway. Our local Polish delicatessen does sell it in jars though. I have made asparagus soup though Marta but that was green asparagus.

In the jars it’s not the same. You need a fresh one in your life ;) thanks Jim for watching and have a lovely week!

I have never had white asparagus only green. Does it have any difference in taste ?
@kathrinlancelle33042 жыл бұрын
Very much so. It has a very mild, delicate taste. Nothing like it. Especially when served with Katenschinken and either a butter béchamel sauce or melted butter. Yum, yum.

🤣 Where did you get that photo of that old kissler kochofen? I use to actually cook on one of those wood burning ones. That brought back memories. 👴

Oh I missed last week’s video. Does the green asparagus tastes the same as the white? And Max’s birthday will coming very soon 😍🥳
@cooking-the-world2 жыл бұрын
Actually we already celebrated his birthday two weeks ago. What a year that was! Very intensive, but so beautiful at the same time. Yesterday on the other hand we celebrated my birthday 🥳 and no - white asparagus tastes completely different. Not sure if you can get it in US.

Ok, wo kann man in den USA weissen Spargel kaufen? Ich such schon seit über 30 Jahren.

Mann kanm in NJ kaufen bei Lidl oder Shoprite, aber sie sind nur in Herbst oder Fruehling gefunden.

@@alimodrak8264 I did find jars of white asparagus at Aldi in Florida a week ago or so. Got a jar, and it will have to do. It's still nothing like the fresh stuff you can buy in Germany in May/June.

Streng geheimes Rezept! Any attempt by me to cook it, will end in very angry dinner guests :) I will need to attend your cooking school. Thumbs up always given, and likewise subscribed.

Vegetable disease that is not harmful to humans. Rusty asparagus has yellow/orange/red flecks on the surface. Happy Easter Merle! ☺️

I live in the US and have never seen white asparagus. Are they a special breed or in special growing conditions?
