INGREDIENTS
-2 cups of all purpose flour
-1/2 cup of tap water or more if needed
-1/4 tsp. of salt
-1/2 cup of vegetable oil (Wesson oil for frying)
-1 cup or more of tomato sauce, that has been made ahead of time ( you may look at my Marinara sauce video)
-1/2 of cup of grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
DIRECTIONS
-mix the salt into the flour.
-make a well with the flour
-add the water a bit at the time into the flour until the dough reaches a semi-soft smooth consistency
-after the dough is well mixed, let it rest for 10-15 minutes
-while the dough is resting, heat a pan with the oil for frying
-in another small pot, heat up the tomato sauce over low medium heat
-cut a small piece of dough
and make a circular-like shape (see video). Stretch the dough with your hands - do not use a rolling pin to flatten!
-when the oil is hot, add the stretched dough and wait for it to turn golden and to sound crispy when using a fork to tap it.
Then remove the fried dough from the pan and place it on a dish. Add the hot tomato sauce and sprinkle with grated cheese. Serve immediately and bite into a delicious crispy outside and soft inside and enjoy.
