Fast bean soup recipe is 4 cans great northern, rinsed, added to red onion/garlic sautee, and garlic powder and salt which is fast, 10 mins to boil with hot water or stock. I garnish with sour cream and Tajin, green onion. If you only add a little stock/water and then blend it with a little vinegar or lemon juice, it becomes "hummus" (blend tahini to make 'real' hummus without chichpeas). But you can also add a can of tomatoes or some ham cubes or turnip greens just before 1st boil, let stand.

Great stuff as always Jack. Question: when adding the chili powder, does the color of the soup determine how much you add? or more by taste? Or both? Thanks in advance.

guitarman obviously I’m not Jack himself but it seemed like he was adding more for the smoky flavor it added, so most likely by taste
