First, use the retaining pins to stop former moving and sliding off. Secondly use the four washers supplied to hold mandrel in vice, stops pivoting. As per Gripco, mention annealing metal to soften, also form metal around former with hands before using mallet. TIP: use a round rubber hammer, the face will contour with the die giving an even finish.

well mine has come out quite lumpy and i am disappointed with it. what have i done wrong if anything.

Cooksongold, please tell your reviewers to put the camera closer so we can see the demo of the item being reviewed and shown. Reviewer is not telling viewers to anneal first so metal is softer to for. Also to suggest to not use metal hammer with metal forming tool cuz of marks.
