Did you license check these before promoting them? I dont want myself or anyone else getting closed for piracy if we try sell any of this stuff. Id like to make sure your not selling or promoting piracy. Pirates are getting closed so lets hear your not another promoter causing an increase in piracy close downs
@cube3dworld Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, if you want to sell one of these designs, you shoud check if it is free for commercial use. If not, you should connect with the designer.
@WillofNewZealand Жыл бұрын
@@cube3dworld almost right. If you want to upload or sell a thing wether you drew it or found it then perform a propper license check. Finding a thing on thingiverse or site is NOT proof its genuine or ment to be there. If i perform a license check and a pirate shows up above or next to the genuine thing then the link of the genuine is sent to the pirate host site and the pirate is closed down.
@WillofNewZealand Жыл бұрын
@@cube3dworld Basics for newbs. License check all uploads and sales, no matter how the thing file came to be. Even if you drew it. Even if Ai drew it. Even if scan. Even if a walk in customer with file. Even if you call yourself a farm, service, or old McDonald etc. Even if you find a so called free file. Even if you purchased file. A license check is to search. 3dmdb Yeggi Stlfinder Google Net. Now combine all results from all searches into one massive list. Yes still manually done, gpt has not achieved it yet either so Then, Sort by oldest first. Then, Filter out cgi, cnc milling, laser cutting etc. Thats the basic overview of a 3d print thing license check. Non commercial license is a owned thing, that owner sets terms of use, who may sell it, prices if any, so on. A thing license ownership can be sold. Examples of value. Stl per copy $1. Physical print $100. License ownership $ 100,000. I might post you a how to about, TRANSFER thing ownership, within a site, upload dates are matched to original by email arrangment with site. MIGRATE is to move, spread ownership to another site or sites, upload date of creation get matched to original by site by email arrangement with site. SEMI MIGRATE. Spread to new site but upload dates dont match, be carefull not to delete original. Theres a few basics for newbs.
@WillofNewZealand Жыл бұрын
@@cube3dworld I suggest promote 1 genuine license checked thing rather than 10 random things found on sites that likly contain several pirates. The damage that is caused by promoters promoting a pirate thing can be large. If lots of people believe they can sell the print then they can and are being closed for piracy. Other promoters have already caused damage, close downs and such. The people who believed the promoted thing are not happy at all, thats putting it politly. Lets care about the community.
@WillofNewZealand Жыл бұрын
@@cube3dworld Perhaps i could tell you of what i call sharks. Those smart ruthless entrepreneurs who, Wont tell you nothing cause your just a snack or newb. Look for those who are giving away non licensed things. Farms such as one of last weeks close downs was all the classic newb fodder usuals. Doing his own thing. Not licensing his designs for years. Giving out those designs, until the first shark sees it then licenses it themselves. Newb might not be told just close down at some point. The newbs old stuff are looked through to license all there stuff. If its been 24 hours it could be owned and sold by then. Last weeks farm when it folded had a few outdated printers worth nothing at the end and there exit was sad, they had given away there most valuable assets for ages being the designs. Doing his own thing. Yip i keep seeing this. I have bite marks for sure from prior smarter sharks myself. There are several areas they mostly often circle in our sector where newbs loose it all to them. Of course its not in an instruction book. Whats not being said is critical in my experience. The farms loosing the right to sell a thing is sad. Newbs loosing ownerships is sad. How many influences are focused on telling you anything of real use vs selling cheap newb printers, Or clogged extruder or print of the day. Which is showing up as a whole new shark field and highlighting opertunities, weaknesses, non licensed give aways. The competition is tough so as ive found out a shark has no issue with ethics holding them back. Id love to describe more areas in detail but id rather not help it happen by saying how. I felt after reading your reply this might be of interest. As it seemed you might have thought finding a thing and reading its license or contacting the owner was a do first, its not. Ive posted you the license check overview so you can see how. Id say theres no excuses to not license check all uploads and sales but keep in mind, sharks dont want you to know squat. Pirates can be made to give money back to genuine owner in court, a pirate could be operating faster than you could. See the terrifying teeth of the shark swim past you. Your prior reply is nice and surprisingly that helps. There is a annoying common pirate nature ive seen is silence when asked questions about was a license check done and did the genuine owner get the royalty, which we might already know. I see silence often draws more heat cause something aint right. Negotiations get done and they wear it , all in favor? Silence pased, next. Is that the best deal for them? Silence. Done. Next. 3d printing is a very exciting and creative sector. Once a hand full of enthusiasts back in the days before thingiverse exsisted, now ball park 30 million licensed things. With numbers come entrepreneurs, sharks, pot holes, creatives, Opertunities, Wishing you nice success. Be well.
