I could really use some help with a coin I found, after many try's I still can't figure out what to type in google for the answer, & no one has the answer so far... I found a 2004 - D wide AM dime, when I didn't think it looked right I googled it & all I can find information on is a 2004 - D close AM... Would someone know where I'm to look for info on this dime? Thanks so much for all the information. I wish I can give you 2 thumbs up. Lucky for me, I got a 1964 dime the other day from a gas station. I pay for things in cash so I can get change back and look through it. It is the most inexpensive way to collect.

Hey we do the same thing! Silver dime in change is a great find! We get lots of copper, foreign and some wheat's the same way but silver is tough to come by!

hi coin opp, i was wondering if you can take a look at my Lincoln no s penny, and i do know there's a difference between the business strike and the proof but i do have a magnifying glass and i looked through the major differences of the business and proof and i noticed there was a dent in the business where Lincolns clothing connects to it, and noticed mine didn't have that dent but to be sure i want to email you a picture to see if you can tell me if its the actual one.

I'm very new at this, like 5 days into it. I've already found my first 1943 steel wheat penny and a 1992 c-AM penny, but it's in horrible shape. I'm able to tell what it is only by using my plugable microscope. I have no clue what it's worth. I'm also all over the place not focusing on just one year or coin, therefore I'm not following any kind of order and I think thats causing me to look at a lot of my coins over and over again. Any tips on how to go about this new hobby of mine would be helpful and much appreciated.

There are quite a few KZbin videos out there that can help you with that (we have one recently posted) and many books out there as well (cherry pickers guide). Just be careful going to a Dealer with them because many can be shady and offer far less than you may get at an online auction!

Scanning through a lot of pennies, I noticed mostly on the 1989 year, that the word "States" is barely visible, especially near the edge. I've heard of double die and mis-stike. Is there such a thing of no impression? On the front side, the details are much more striking. Could these coins be of any value besides face value?

Could be a strike error- most likely struck through grease. We find them occasionally when we coin roll hunt- they are usually worth more than face value but probably not much more- depends on denomination/condition.

A Friend told me that a 1918 D dime could go for high bucks , I have one ,i would rate it at a score of 55 or maybe higher. Is this true for the year of the dime.

dale tanner that's not exactly how you should categorize them. mints are circulated coins in uncirculated condition that look they just rolled out of the mint places(ie mint state) and are made for circulation to the consumer. Where proof coins coins are only made for collectors, not pocket change. so there's two types of strikes, business strikes( circulation ), and proof strikes ( collector, no circulating and only made from the San Francisco mint, but not all coins minted there are proof coins)

They are distinguished by business strikes and proof strikes... business strike dies are used for mint sets while specially prepared proof dies are and planchets are used for proof sets... sometimes mistakes are made and proof dies are used for circulation strikes, although without the extra die polishing and planchet preparation

I was just at another coin dealer in Stow I have 3 1969's penny and a 1945 it looks like a d over s and a 1964 dime that's rainbow and once again they told me that I have nothing plus other coins that I seen that are worth money they tell me not to watch KZbin videos because everybody just does those to get subscribers to get paid but I like you guys and you have proof with the grading place of these coins I still have a lot of coins that my dad started collecting before I was born and I know they're worth money and I just don't want to go to any more dealers the first one I went to on Christmas Eve when I wasn't looking took some of my coins and then give me $20 for my time and gas to come up there he said he took my dad's World War nickel and some other coins this is just awful

dale tanner the finish of a proof coin on modern Lincoln cents give it away. even in circulation you can spot them a mile away but they have a squared rim with squared edges much more detail and are perfectly well centered.

Hey Dustin, good morning brother. I'd like to talk to you about what you said in this video concerning the 1990 no "S" Lincoln Cent. ... To this I only mean tobe helpful... ok, I begg to differ with what you said about finding a "1990 no S" Lincoln Cent, only in Proof sets. Well sir, that isn't the case in my book. I actually found a "1990" no "S" proof Lincoln Memorial Cent in my Change this very morning. I don't know exactly how long it's been with me because of the time spread from 1990 to yesterday 5/21/18 witch I searched 4rolls of Pennies and put what I wasn't looking for in my 4foot by 2foot tote, and the only reason I found this Penny is because my durn tote is over filled and falling out. But anyway, I've been collecting coins for over 45 years so I'm positive that isn't the penny in question. I just wanted to let everyone know that the 1990 no S proof Lincoln Memorial Cent, can and has been found out of its binder. ... Middle Tennessee

Is it a proof coin? If it is, it's very valuable. I would sell it, or you could just hold on to it as it's a very rare coin. In that case take very good care of it. Please note that it is likely not a proof coin. There are various ways to tell the difference between a proof coin and a business strike coin. Please see if it is indeed a proof coin before you go auctioning it off for 4800$. You can actually find proof coins in your pocket change, however it is extremely unlikely. If you know for sure that this is a proof coin, congratulations! You know own an incredibly rare and highly saught after coin!
